This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, world class Project Controls team; working as a Document Controller on some of the UK’s largest transportation infrastructure projects. You will be part of an experienced team that have a significant impact on the successful delivery of these multi-million-pound contracts, using state of the art Project Controls tools and techniques that provide concise information to the projects they support. Atkins Project Controls are recognised as an internationally renowned consultant, working on large transportation infrastructure projects within the UK and overseas.
 
Job Description
We have a vacancy for Document Controller working as part of Project Control Department.
 
The Project Controls Department provides a range of professional services to support our Rail Projects. Services provided include: Tender Planning, Project Planning, analysis, trending, forecasting and Document Control. 
You will be required to develop and implement processes related to document control and management, work with a project teams to implement systems of control, manage the process of distribution of internal correspondence and ensure good relationships with external and internal clients.
Reporting to Document Control Manager and working as part of the project controls team; this position is a key project support role focusing providing efficient document control support to all projects. The successful candidate will also provide key Project Control support across all projects under Project Controls governance.
We are looking for a numerate individual with some existing document control experience of working on projects. A general understanding of Project Planning would be useful. The candidate will be someone keen to see their career develop with a desire to take greater ownership and responsibility.
The role will involve working predominantly in the rail sector at Croydon, but may also provide opportunities to work at other locations short term, in support of our projects.  This role, in an expanding team offers the opportunity to receive training from an established Project controls team; whilst contributing towards the delivery for some of the Rail industries high profile projects.

Essential
•Previous experience working on site or in a project office
•Excellent communication skills
•Strong IT skills in MS Office including Outlook, Excel, Word
•The ability to multitask
•Good attention to detail
•Previous experience of working on database systems
•Good written communication skills
•Some Project controls experience
•The ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities
As a member of an enthusiastic and expanding team you will:

•Ensure Document Management consistency across all Projects, rigorously, maintaining control and traceability of the documentation from Project initiation throughout completion.
•Up/downloading documentation onto EDMS
•Quality checking of documents to ensure they meet client and company standards
•Creating, formatting and updating documents using Microsoft packages
•Ensuring all technical documents are up to date, logged and updated correctly
•Process incoming documentation - registration in the DMS, internal distribution, archiving
•Process outgoing documentation - transmit to Client and Suppliers/3rd parties
•Ensure all drawings/documentation are correctly identified, distributed and filed
•Communicating with project team, clients and sub-contractors.
•Download / upload / Printing of drawings using the EDMS
•Archiving of project documentation recording and numbering appropriately to ensure everything is traceable
•Monitoring of documentation progress in cooperation with the project planner
•Establishment and maintenance of document control registers
•Setting up Document Control area for new projects
•Managing RFI's, TQs, drawings etc
•Take responsibility for the delivery and quality of the work assigned.
•Undertake general administration duties
•Adopt a best practice approach
•Accomplish assign tasks with a moderate degree of supervision
•Attend meetings and participate in the presentation of work.
•Pro-actively develop skills both on the job and from formal training and share knowledge with colleagues.
