Our Networks & Drainage Engineering team is one of the largest in the UK with clients that include utility companies, local authorities, MOD and independent businesses. Being part of Atkins Networks and Drainage engineering practice, the challenges flow thick and fast. You will have the opportunity to apply your talents to high-profile, multidisciplinary challenges.

Due to continued growth in the workload of our successful Water business, we seek to recruit Drainage Infrastructure Modellers for Design across our UK offices.

The successful candidate will join a team of geographers and civil engineers and play a key role in delivering to Water Company Clients and Local Authorities, with the potential to get involved with International projects. They will be self-motivated and demonstrate an ability to work with others in a variety of project roles.



Requirements:


• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geography (but will consider other disciplines or qualifications depending on experience).
• Previous demonstrable experience in drainage infrastructure design modelling using MicroDrainage and including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS).
• Knowledge of industry standard drainage and wastewater networks design.
• Experience of MapInfo/GIS packages.
• Experience of InfoWorks CS/ICM, InfoNet, MapBasic and Visual Basic/Python (or other coding skills) would be an advantage.
• Capable of leading small project teams and mentoring with proven track record in coordinating and delivering technically excellent projects on time and to budget
• A good understanding of UK water industry.
• Attained or working towards chartered status (ICE or CIWEM)
• Appropriate experience post graduation (minimum 3 years)

Responsibilities:


• Construction and verification of drainage network models to investigate flood risk and flood mechanisms and develop outline solutions.
• Undertake hydraulic designs of drainage networks, including SUDS, using appropriate software and maintain high levels of awareness and application of developments in software packages
• Planning and supervision of site asset surveys for physical and condition assessments.
• Analysis of drainage operational data.
• Checking and reviewing drainage modelling work undertaken by others.
• Preparing technical reports and other project deliverables.
• Interfacing with clients and stakeholders on projects.
• Co-ordination with other disciplines working on the projects and site team
• Contributing towards technical innovation.
• Compliance with Atkins Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Training

Atkins develops individuals through appropriate on the job training and development courses designed to help individuals make the best of their abilities and talents. These are reviewed with individuals through an annual appraisal process. We actively support staff in achieving corporate membership of relevant Institutions.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
