Atkins, Balfour Beatty and Egis Road Operations, are part of a consortium, creating Connect Plus Services, a unique partnership with a collective strength in highways asset care from finance, through to design, build, maintenance as well as day to day operation.

 

As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing, and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.


We are currently recruiting for the position of DST Analyst to join our team working out of our South Mimms site.


To support the above modelling needs, CPS is in the process of delivering a Decision Support Tool (DST) using Agile Assets’ industry-leading optimisation technology. The DST utilises a library of engineering rules, along with asset inventory and condition data, and then runs millions of scenarios to find a forward plan of work which meets all performance targets set by the business.

CPS manages 10 categories of asset. Some of the categories are now implemented in the DST and producing forward plans for the business. In other cases, implementation is yet to commence. As such we are seeking a DST Analyst to join the business and take responsibility for the development, improvement and operation of DST.

The ideal candidate will have a mix of skills covering the implementation and operation of DST models, software development, and highways engineering. They will need to be highly flexible and able to work in a variety of roles, including stakeholder engagement, business analysis, data analysis, data migration, system testing, setting up source data sets, defining and setting up decision trees, deterioration models and model constraints, and interpreting model outputs to determine follow on actions.


You will be accountable for:


  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements and solution designs.
  • Develop, enhance, test and support the application.
  • Ensure system documentation is kept up to date as the application evolves.
  • Work with the business to define and improve engineering rules.
  • Configure the DST with engineering rules (including deterioration models and intervention strategies), model objectives and constraints. This will require software development skills using Groovy Script which is similar to Java.
  • Set up and run processes to migrate asset inventory and condition data from separate IOT systems into the DST.
  • Run scenarios.
  • Interpret the outputs of scenarios and provide reports and recommendations to stakeholders (this requires strong data analysis skills).
  • Present results to stakeholders.
  • Cross-asset modelling / analysis, where the performance and treatment of assets in one category may affect the performance of assets in another category.
  • Live the Connect plus Services Values.
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero harm.
  • Support the delivery of Connect Plus Services Sustainability activities.
  • Personal Qualities / Experience
  • Prior experience of implementing DSTs’. Preferably for highways assets using the AgileAssets product.
  • Expertise in asset deterioration modelling and decision trees.
  • Ability to interpret model outputs and determine follow on actions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Flexible, motivated and able to persevere in challenging situations.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint).
  • SQL, data transformation and migration.
