Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to develop your career as an ecological consultant? We are seeking an ecologist to join our Central/Midlands team in the Derby office.  This is a permanent position.

The majority of work is likely to be regional, but there will be technical collaboration and networking with the ecologists working within the company around the UK with opportunities to work in other regions of the UK. We support our staff in developing their careers through formal training and working alongside national experts.
The role involves, but is not limited to:
  • Providing support to the Derby Ecology team and beyond.
  • Working with ecologists and other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) throughout Atkins and across the UK to provide a consistent and integrated service to clients.
  • Winning work from internal and external clients.
  • Assisting on field surveys and planning and co-ordinating ecological survey and mitigation work.
  • Undertake reporting tasks including protected species survey reports and constraints reports with a basic understanding of EcIA.
  • Undertaking nature conservation/ecology assessments.
About you
If you are a dedicated and proactive individual who has the following experience then we want to hear from you.
  • CIEEM membership (or eligible for membership if not currently held).
  • Experience working within ecological consultancy.
  • Understanding of relevant UK & EU legislation, planning policies and licensing regulations.
  • Up to date knowledge of survey guidance and assessment for UK protected species.
  • Experience of Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species survey, use new and innovative survey techniques and equipment would be beneficial.
  • Experience of writing a range of technical reports; and
  • Full, clean UK driver’s licence.
