On joining the Atkins’ Nuclear business, you’ll be an integral part of a team specializing in taking on the most challenging engineering projects and opportunities from technical leadership to project management. Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.

Job Description

Supports execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture

Establishes and maintains an emergency management program, including procedures, compliant with DOE Order 151.1D, Comprehensive Emergency Management System, and OSHA with support from Isotek line management and support organizations.

Interprets and integrates DOE Orders; OSHA requirements; and other applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances into the comprehensive emergency management program.

Serves as a point of contact to DOE, UT-Battelle and Tennessee Emergency Management Administration on emergency management program.

Develops, conducts, and manages training evolutions and exercises/drills to prepare project personnel and emergency response support organizations to respond effectively to emergency situations.

Provides support to coordinate actual or potential emergency response and preparedness efforts, including participation in training and drills established by Laboratory Emergency Preparedness Department and DOE

Organizes local emergency squads and identifies sufficient qualified emergency squad alternates to ensure availability during working hours.

Reviews postings and emergency placards and reports deficiencies to affected responsible supervisor along with corrective recommendations

Support Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Program, including: maintains programs and procedures compliant with 10 CFR 851; supports job walkdowns and JHEs; performs OSH evaluations and investigations; performs OSH program assessments; conducts facility inspections; reviews work control documents.



Job Requirements

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Strong communication, verbal and written skills.

Ability to gather information, pertinent facts and analyze situational environment to arrive at sound conclusions and take appropriate actions.

Knowledge of emergency management programs and program interface with response organizations.

Education / Experience / Certifications

Baccalaureate in engineering, safety, or related science or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 1 year nuclear experience.

Minimum 3 years’ job-related experience preferred.

Certification preferred, e.g., emergency management certification, Certified Safety Professional,

Certified Industrial Hygienist

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified locations, information and matter.

US citizenship required for Atkins Global Isotek Systems project positions.
