What you’ll be doing
At Atkins we offer a world of opportunities from the projects you’ll work on to the directions you can take your career in. Whatever your desires, our training will help you achieve Chartered status and develop industry skills that are highly sought after.
If you join us you will be working with some of the finest minds on some of the most challenging engineering projects of our time, helping to shape the future of energy. You will have opportunities to work closely with clients, spending time within their organisations and could become involved in tasks such as;
- Supporting on some major projects across various areas of Energy from nuclear decommissioning, new power generation to transmission, to offshore, wave and tidal energy
- Reviewing and developing designs to improve plants, equipment, structures and Energy related systems
- Carrying out surveys and site inspections, building strong client relationships
- Using a variety of engineering software packages, as well as 2D and 3D modelling for new designs and modifications
- Producing safety cases, reports and documentation to support the planning, design, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of Energy facilities
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be a talented graduate with a 2.2 masters degree or above in a relevant degree discipline. You’ll have ambition, vision, enthusiasm and the drive to keep on developing your technical skills and achieve Chartered status. With a passion for working in a consultancy environment, you’ll want to work with customers and with teams who deliver to their customers and you’ll be adaptable and happy to cope with uncertainty. Communication and team-working will be your key skills as well as having the ability to apply your technical knowledge to analyse problems and create innovative solutions.
Where you could be based
All of our Energy teams cover a range of sectors from offshore wind, renewables to Nuclear and Oil and Gas.
Civil/Structural Team – Aberdeen, Bristol, London, Warrington, Birmingham (please note not all of these options will be available on the registration form, however if you select the closest one, we will discuss all location options with you).
Electrical/EC&I Team– Bristol, Epsom, Leeds, Birmingham, Warrington and Whitehaven (please see note above)
Mechanical Team – Whitehaven (Cumbria)
Probability, Safety & Reliability Team - Bristol
Process/Environmental Team – Environmental - Whitehaven / Process & Chemical - Aberdeen
NB: For each team/role above we accept a range of disciplines, these will be displayed on the application form

Assessment centre dates: Dependent on location, assessment centres will be held between February 2017 and March 2016
