What you’ll be doing
We have opportunities for graduates from a multitude of degree backgrounds to join our Energy safety case and human factors teams across the UK. From an Engineering, Science or Human Factors background you could be working in one of the following teams, here’s a little about what they do;
Warrington or Bristol – based here as a Graduate Human Factors Consultant, you will be part of a client focused team, and will work on a wide variety of projects across a range of sectors of industry including Energy, Transportation and Infrastructure. Some examples of local projects you could be working on are The Legacy Cylinder Facility project for Capenhurst Nuclear Services or one of many significant railway upgrade and re-control projects across the country such as Crossrail. You will also have knowledge and interest in the design and development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI); task analysis; cognition and workload; human performance and human error; system ergonomics; as well as workstation and Control Room Design. Candidates should be from an Ergonomics, Human Factors or Psychology degree background.

In addition to some of the responsibilities you can see above for specific locations - As a graduate engineer, you could also be involved in;
- Supporting on some major projects across various areas of Energy from nuclear decommissioning, new power generation and transmission, to offshore, wave and tidal energy
- Reviewing and developing designs to improve plants, equipment, structures and Energy related systems
- Carrying out surveys and site inspections, building strong client relationships
- Using a variety of engineering software packages, as well as 2D and 3D modelling for new designs and modifications
- Producing safety cases, reports and documentation to support the planning, design, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of Energy facilities
- Carrying out design and assessment for new build projects as well as additions, modifications and repairs to existing assets.
- Attending graduate networks & forums to help shape our scheme & graduate community activities
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be a talented graduate with a minimum 2.2 Masters/MEng degree in a relevant degree discipline (please check each location for suitable degrees)
You’ll have ambition, vision, enthusiasm and the drive to keep on developing your technical skills and achieve Chartered status. With a passion for working in a consultancy environment, you’ll want to work with customers and with teams who deliver to their customers and you’ll be adaptable and happy to cope with uncertainty. Communication and team-working will be your key skills as well as having the ability to apply your technical knowledge to analyse problems and create innovative solutions.
