Engineer – Electrical Power Systems

The Power business is involved in conceptual, owner’s engineer and detail design in Power Plant Engineering, Substation Engineering, T&D planning and infrastructure projects.  Power System study is integral part of all these projects. Major clients are in UK and Middle East.

 

Power Systems Engineer

  • In depth knowledge of conducting simulations and analytical studies including but not limited to power flow and stability studies ranging from transmission planning, load and generation interconnection, integration of renewables, to distribution network optimization, etc.
  • Able to prepare simulation study models and carry out electric power system studies including but not limited to Power flow, Short-circuit analysis Harmonic studies, Stability studies and Dynamic simulations (EMTP studies ).
  • Excellent knowledge of at least two power system simulation tools such as Digsilent, PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, Simulink, ETAP.
  • Knowledge on modelling Power electronics & Control systems are desirable.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and carry out consulting, research and development study projects
  • Analyze study results and recommend solutions to engineering problems of medium and high level of complexity
  • Prepare study reports and other technical documentation
  • Respond to request for proposals (RFP) by preparing proposals & estimation of man-hours
  • Provide customer support
  • Present study results to clients and deliver training courses on subject of expertise

 



Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to::

Strong conceptualization ability, interpersonal communication and organizational skills are a must, including the capability to explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, be willing to travel, and work successfully in a customer focused, project oriented environment.

·  Perform power system studies on utility systems and wind plants including harmonic analysis, transient analysis, temporary overvoltage/overcurrent analysis, ground fault settings, arc flash studies, short circuit studies, and simple protective device coordination

·   Publish and present study results at meetings and conferences

·   Assist other engineers with power system studies and able to work as a team

·  Understand the quality procedures of the organisation and ensure the deliverables are in line with company quality standards

·  Perform routine work that conforms to all project/task requirements and that requires a basic understanding and application of engineering theories, standards, concepts, techniques, as well as, knowledge of engineering/industry codes and government regulations

Mandatory Requirements:

·  Masters / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from reputed institute with 5-8 years of relevant  professional experience

·  Work experience on system study software such as ETAP, DigSilent, PSCAD, PSS.

Desirable Requirements:

·  Knowledge of power electronics devices for power applications and control systems
