Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team in Denver, CO as an Entry-Level Civil Engineer in the Graduate Development Program.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join the Graduate Development Program, which consists of an 18-month period in which the engineer will rotate through various groups or disciplines (Structures, Highway, ITS, etc.) to acquire a good understanding of how each disciple works with the intent that the employee fits in the proper area based on the development program experience.
 
Major Function / Role:
  • Under supervision, progresses through selected technical areas over an 18-month period.
  • Performs routine engineering work while developing professional proficiency.
  • On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications.
  • On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating
    systems.
  • On assignments involving construction activities, works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product.
  • Participates in non-technical training deemed critical to professional development.
  • Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.
 
Job Duties:
  • Generally applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.


Education and Experience:
  • B.S. in Engineering. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree
 
Special Skills:
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Solid oral and written communications skills.
  • Capable of developing technical writing.
 
 
Professional Registrations:
  • Preferred at hire or to be obtained within 6 months of hire date.
