Consultant – Environmental Management

Atkins is looking to recruit an Environmental Management Consultant to join our team in our Global Design Centre in Bangalore, India.

 

Based in the GDC, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with our infrastructure and other built asset project teams in UK throughout the project lifecycle, and in particular the design and construction phases of the UK projects.

 

This is an excellent career development opportunity for a candidate with 6-10 years’ experience, looking to progress their career to the next level through working on high profile infrastructure projects in UK.  

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a environmental management related or engineering discipline and will have achieved, or be working towards, chartered status and / or full or associate membership of a recognised relevant professional body.

 

He/she will possess strong environmental management related expertise and/or knowledge, particularly in context to UK projects, a wide range of skill sets and a willingness to become involved in a broad selection of projects.

 



Requirements:

The successful applicant will:

  • Have an excellent understanding carbon management, carbon calculation and analysis.

  • Experience of conducting Environmental Due Diligence, Environmental Management Plans for Design, Construction and Operation Phases.

  • Working knowledge of Environmental Permitting, Environmental Risk Assessment (COMAH), Environmental Policy & Strategy, Environmental Appraisal, Environmental Auditing, Environmental Training (Regulatory and Permitting).   

  • Have demonstrable ability to effectively communicate Environmental Management issues, approaches and solutions pragmatically with project managers, engineers, designers and clients.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with a range of technical specialists at different levels.

  • Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.

  • Be able to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.

  • Have an excellent understanding of UK’s sustainability related policies and regulations and other global protocols.  

  • Have strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Have experience/knowledge of UK environmental regulations, guidance and standards, and a broad understanding of key technical specialisms underpinning infrastructure sustainability, in particular energy, water, waste and materials. Knowledge of international regulatory frameworks, guidance and standards would be an advantage.

  • Having working experience in BREEAM/CEEQUAL Assessment will be an advantage; knowledge on BREEAM/CEEQUAL/LEED is must.

  • Have ability to delineate scope of work at micro-level and help in preparing techno-commercial offers. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Development of Environmental strategies and policies and plans.

  • Conducting carbon management, carbon calculation and analysis.

  • Conducting Environmental Due Diligence, preparing Environmental Management Plans for Design, Construction and Operation Phases.

  • Support team in Environmental Permitting, Environmental Risk Assessment (COMAH), Environmental Policy & Strategy, Environmental Appraisal, Environmental Auditing, Environmental Training (Regulatory and Permitting). 

  • Check, summarise and present information in a clear and concise way understandable to non-specialists, both verbally and in written format.

  • Work as part of a project team to influence project development in order to deliver optimal outcomes.

  • Collate and edit information from a range of sources to provide clear, well written reports.

  • Project management and coordination of environmental inputs on major projects.

  • An interest in developing technical skills with a view to becoming a member of a relevant professional institute (e.g. BREEAM assessor).

  • To competently undertake own work to an excellent standard; on time and to budget.

  • Represent the company and continue to build personal and company reputation.

  • Undertake Continual Professional Development in accordance with requirements of chosen professional institute and work towards becoming chartered.
