SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Orlando, Florida Eco Sciences East Group as a Environmental Scientist.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, performs standard scientific work while developing professional proficiency.

JOB DUTIES

Generally applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified scientific tasks, requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning, and being able to detect problems in using standardized procedures.
Environmental compliance monitoring, permitting and report preparation
Assist senior staff with wetland delineations, wildlife habitat assessments, and other field surveys
Perform basic Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data collection and production of resource maps.
Conduct online data searches

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. or B.A. in a field of Science to commensurate with hiring discipline. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's degree; no experience is required with a Master's degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Good analytical skills and attention to detail; technical writing, computer and communication skills
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, including frequent interactions with government personnel and contractors

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willing to do field work in hot and humid conditions
Occasional overnight travel
ArcGIS experience preferred
Ability to drive 4-wheel vehicles, both on and off road
