Our U.S team is growing! The Owner’s Representative (OR)/Sr. Project Manager (SPM) maintains a primary focus on practice related services (management of the delivery of all project management related services) and a secondary focus on internal business operations (active engagement with business development, financial management, and staff development matters). Has significant independent responsibility for assignments including entire projects as determined by the manager in situations where the project scope and complexity are limited.
 
This position is based out of the Minneapolis office, though there is flexibility to work from one of our other US offices (prefer Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Houston or Denver).  The current need is for an OR/SPM to support multiple large greenfield food manufacturing plant projects, primarily located in the Midwest or South East.  Typical Owner’s Representative/Project

Typical Owner’s Representative/Project Management assignments focus heavily on preconstruction phase services and include:
1)    Procurement Support – Develop RFPs and facilitate the selection process for engineering services, CMr, Design-build or multiple prime contractors where the client’s staff manages the construction.
2)    Cost Estimating Support - The role will oversee the estimating process and engage with the client to help them validate the scope of each bid package and align the estimate to any changes before it is issued to contractors. Once bids are received, the OR/SPM will assist the client in reconciling the contractor bids with the estimate and understand gaps, bid spreads, etc.  Finally, the OR/PM will assist the client with GMP negotiations, validating GMP costs.
3)    Schedule – Provide oversight of the master project schedule development and input on schedule strategy.
4)    Support the client with developing a contracting strategy that suits their project goals and objectives.
5)    Contracts - Provide a review of the client’s contract form and advise on +/- and risks.  
6)    Project Controls - Recommend project controls processes, procedures and reporting requirements.  Recommend tools and systems or support the client in the application and  disciplined use of their tool and systems across the project team.
7)    Project Oversite – Serve as an independent third party to the client to advise on conflicts, risk, contract changes/amendments, interact with the contractor and engineer as directed by the client. Lead executive project meetings and interface with the clients financial, procurement, operations team and others.
8)    Reporting – Provide a regular executive level report highlighting key KPIs and project risks.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Provides management and daily leadership for AtkinsRéalis project team or the client’s team as may be directed.

  • Ability to manage the design/engineering phase of a project through construction completion, startup, commissioning and first product. Provides primary daily point of contact to client, engineers, contractors and consultants at project level.

  • Creates, executes, and manages project execution plans for the practice and the client’s projects and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and AtkinsRéalis scope of services.

  • Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities as applicable to the role.

  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.

  • Prepares for project reviews and quality assurance procedures for the practice and the client as may be applicable.

  • Minimizes AtkinsRéalis and the client’s exposure and risk on project.

  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.

  • Serves as an internal project manager in providing regular forecast and expense updates to project budget.

  • Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, and monitoring project receivables and/or performs similar tasks on behalf of the client.

  • Monitors and addresses all project billing issues and anomalies, both internal and external.

  • Manages and reviews third party engineering, contractor and consultant contracts and invoices on behalf of the client.

  • Follows up with clients and consultants, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.

  • Develops project accounting forecasts and summaries and/or performs similar tasks on behalf of the client if assigned as an embedded resource on a client project.

  • Reviews the Project Status Report (PSR) and general financial reporting required to generate client cost reports and/or performs similar tasks on behalf of the client if assigned as an embedded resource on a client project.

  • Forecasts revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization.

  • Effectively pursues the execution and filing of project legal documents.

  • Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

  • Complexity - Work involves conventional practice but may include a variety of complex features.

  • Decision-making - Most assignments are performed solitarily. Makes decisions on technical problems and methods. Receives approval on proposed plans for projects and general direction as to results expected or on unusual problems.

  • Work direction given to others – Will have direct supervisory responsibilities for direct reports, and indirect supervisory responsibilities related to the professional and practice related development of other project staff.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related field, plus ten years relevant experience.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) [certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global.

  • Previous project leadership experience in Agribusiness/Food Manufacturing /Industrial Manufacturing projects is required.
    Accreditation Centre (GAC)] and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) [certified by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI), an independent administrative body of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)] highly desirable.

  • Must possess some food manufacturing project experience, a thorough understanding of Industrial.

  • Manufacturing Projects Project Management, Building Design & Construction, Process Equipment and Controls, Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, Building Cost Modeling and Risk Analysis.

  • Should have a general understanding of Primavera, Expedition/Prolog or similar, cost estimating and cost management software tools.

  • Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project.  Some familiarity with BIM 360 and BIM Field, File Sharing Systems (SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.), Cx Alloy,

  • SAP is preferred.

  • Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.  Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Expected compensation range is between $105,000 - $160,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
