Façade/Building Envelope Specialist

We are looking for a Building Envelope Specialist to join our Building Structures team in Atkins’ London/South-East team working on many projects in this regard, including some of the most prestigious new buildings in London. This is an important role in a team of senior staff engaged in Due Diligence/Latent Defects Insurance, expert witness, building assessment, and new build projects. Prior experience of such roles would be an advantage but is not essential; more important is wide ranging experience of cladding systems within a variety of building types, ideally both design and construction.

The successful candidate will be based in either our Epsom or London office although there may be a requirement to work further afield and there will be need for flexibility in respect of travel to meet client demands. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a mature and experienced attitude to working closely with clients; in this role your advice and expertise may be called upon on a day to day basis by the client. Expert Witness experience would be advantageous although not essential.


Requirements
In addition to the role requirements detailed above the following is required;
• Excellent report writing;
• Relevant professional qualification;
• Experience of cladding systems across a variety of materials and building types;
• Comprehensive knowledge of current regulations/legislation;
• Knowledge of coating/protection;
• Knowledge and experience of interfaces and tolerances between building elements;
• Testing, maintenance and repair of cladding systems; and
• Experience and appreciation of issues around “Bespoke” designs.
