Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join the nuclear team in Richland, WA.

Job Description

Facilities Maintenance Technician in Richland, WA performs maintenance activities, projects and tasks under direction of the facility maintenance lead.

Performs as required the repair and maintenance of the facility, systems, equipment, and care for the grounds and support equipment.

Ensures optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, and fire safety.

Supports contractors for facilities preventive maintenance involving heating, ventilation and air conditioning and electrical support system.

Participates in the development of integrated work packages as well as policies and procedures.

Makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies and procedures.

Participates in the implementation of approved policies and procedures.

Monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.

These tasks are necessary to ensure smooth company operations and compliance with company policies and local, state and federal regulations.

Provides input to schedules and methods for providing facility maintenance services. Reviews needs with appropriate management staff.

Performs various site daily pre-use inspections for equipment, structures, systems, and components as required.

Inspects facility to identify maintenance issues for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical and related systems.

Maintains clear and direct lines of communication with the work control supervisor, site safety representative, and facility manager in all matters of safety, facility equipment, safety equipment, sub-contractor safety awareness and compliance, and site environmental concerns.

Is competent in the performance various roles of understanding and implementation of the project Hazardous Energy Control program, including but not limited to Controlling Organization, Controlling

Organization Administrator, Controlling Organization Lock/Tag Positioner, or Secondary Checker roles.

Works with site safety and work control ensuring required permits for various work scopes are implemented in a proactive manner to ensure daily work activities are initiated consistently and expeditiously.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Skills



High School Diploma or equivalent experience


Minimum of 5 years of experience


Must be able to be obtain Forklift and crane operating qualifications


Must be able to obtain qualifications for confined space entry


Ability to read and interpret documents


Effective communication skills


Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold)


Ability to lift 50 pounds


Ability to work at elevated heights, i.e. portable ladders, fixed ladders, rolling platforms, etc.


Ability to pass a pre-employment physical


Strong general knowledge of mechanical maintenance work processes


Basic computer skills


Preferred Experience
Facility Maintenance in an industrial plant environment


Due to current law, and in conjunction with the advertised position’s scope of work, candidates that are Non-US citizens are required to be submitted for further approval to the NNSA before being considered for hiring purposes.
