Faithful+Gould seeks an energetic, highly motivated, self-starter to join our Chicago team as a Field Engineer working with our Oil and Gas client throughout the greater Chicago area. The Field Engineer will review schedules and contractor’s method(s) for assessing progress on projects. This position requires a solid understanding of schedule reporting procedures and the ability to evaluate physical progress, critical progress and evaluation of % project completion. This position requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities of this position include:
Understanding the “Rules of credit” and what the contractor requirements are.
Investigation of changes and rework caused by fabrication or engineering errors in the field.
Analyze project cost/schedule specialist should investigate how the contractor treats the extra work created by changes and rework caused by engineering or fabrication errors. A flaw in some progress measurement systems related to the treatment of changes and rework, usually changes and rework require the expenditure of additional workhours that are not in the original budget. Thus, this extra work should be rolled into the progress calculation so the most realistic assessment to the final amount of work can be given.
Provide timely spot checks of contractor progress and progress reporting via random sampling and validate variances with valid reporting to the Project Management team. these spools in the field and confirm whether they are erected and tack welded. Any variance from the stated progress should require further sampling. The findings of the spot check should be documented in a brief memo to PM. Report any discrepancies to the PM for appropriate action.
Review contractor provided progress curves and evaluate they are schedule based and aligned with committed deliveries. Te contractor should provide planned vs. actual progress of key elements of the project: home office engineering, procurement/deliveries, construction (pre-turnaround and turnaround). These curves should be checked to confirm that they are schedule based and not just a mathematical exercise. To the extent possible, the Owner should see only one planned curve instead of the early-late date envelope.
Evaluate production based progress curves that include; isometrics production, spool production, spool delivery, piping erection and others.
Have full knowledge of MS Office, P6, reliable vehicle and solid work history.
