Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

We currently have a great opportunity for a high calibre and motivated individual to join us in the Engineering, Design and Project Management (EDPM) sector finance team, reporting to the FP&A Director. This role provides support to the Sector President and Sector Finance Director (FD) through the provision of accurate financial reports and incisive analysis for monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.

For the right individual the role also offers the opportunity to support the Director of Strategic Planning through the EDPM sector’s 5-year strategic planning process.

As an integral member of the Sector finance team you may also be required to support other members of the team by assisting in the preparation of management and statutory accounts or undertake one off projects.

This is a great opportunity to see a global business from the sector perspective and offers genuine exposure to the Sector President, Sector FD and Corporate Finance team in Montreal.

This role is currently being advertised as 12 months FTC.

Qualifications
o Degree Level Education
o Recognised Accounting Qualification

Essential Criteria
o Highly motivated self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills
o Previous experience gained in a management reporting role in a similar organisation
o Strong analytical skills
o Excellent Excel skills

Desirable Criteria
o Previous experience using Hyperion Financial Management
o Experience working in a Central Finance Team
o Knowledge of International Accounting Standards
 
Responsibilities
o Ownership of the business reporting dashboards and templates ensuring that the key business KPIs are appropriately presented and reports are available to the Sector Finance Director & Director of FP&A on time (monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets).
o Influencing the style and design of management reporting to improve how we communicate issues.
o Analyse management accounts, forecasts and budgets prepared and submitted by the businesses to provide a brief and insightful summary bringing key issues within each business to the attention of the sector’s senior management.
o Take ownership of the process for completing the corporate monthly reporting pack for submission to Head Office team, ensuring key variances are understood and clearly communicated.
o Help drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the monthly management reporting process as the sector continues to integrate SNC-L’s systems and processes.
o Support initiatives to improve the quality of business forecasting.
o Preparation of ad hoc business analysis requested by the sector’s senior management.
o From time to time undertake other routine Group Reporting tasks.
o Manage and support the professional development of the Financial Analyst

The Individual
o A finance background with a proven record of achievement preferably within a finance function of a professional services organisation.
o Previous experience that includes management accounting, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis.
o Ability to identify trends and key issues, understand the implications and communicate concisely.
o A high degree of intelligence and technical competence matched with an innovative approach to new ideas and problem solving.
o Well organised effective communicator able to interact comfortably and confidently with senior directors.
o Ability to build relationships with senior sector and business finance staff.
o A good knowledge of International Accounting Standards would be an advantage.
