SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Atlanta, Georgia Geospatial group as a GIS Analyst.
Major Function/Role:
Under supervision, applies technical professional proficiency to GIS studies and the coordination of related activities.
Job Duties:
Performs work which involves conventional GIS tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning to carry out diversified projects or phases of a single project. Able to detect problems in using standardized procedures due to changes in client needs or project direction. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and may include:
- Conducts data gathering, conversion and analysis of GIS data.
- Prepares data documentation or metadata for GIS projects.
- Prepares maps and exhibits with GIS data sets.
- Participates in client needs analyses.
- Maintains continued knowledge of technology developments in the GIS field and the use of GIS software.
- Monitors quality control within area of responsibility.
- Assists Senior GIS Analysts in certain aspects of project management.
- Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
Education and Experience:
- B.S. or B.A. in Geography, Computer Science or related GIS Environmental Discipline, commensurate with hiring discipline. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's Degree; no experience required with a Master's degree.
Special Skills:
- Technical writing and communication skills desired.
Additional Requirements:
- FEMA PTS or CTP program knowledge a plus.
