SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Lynnwood, WA as a GIS Analyst part of our FEMA Geospatial group.

 

 

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

 

Under supervision, performs standard geographic information system (GIS) work while developing professional proficiency.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Generally applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified GIS tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning. Is able to detect problems in using standardized procedures due to changes in client needs or project direction



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. or B.A. or M.S. in Geography, Computer Science or GIS related Environmental Discipline commensurate with hiring discipline. This level may be achieved by GIS practitioners with 2 years of experience since Bachelor's degree or 1 year since Master's. Typical incumbent has 4 -5 years' experience

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Familiarity with GIS technology and software packages, with ESRI software preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve utilizing critical thinking, knowledge of existing resources and applications, and leveraging subject matter experts as needed.
  • Strong emphasis on interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with the project team, clients, and stakeholders; communicate and report on quantitative analysis; and willingness to learn tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Prioritize organization and data management in an agile environment. Ability to archive data and access information seamlessly.
  • Efficiently able to shift and revisit tasks as needed

 

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

 

  • None

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • FEMA PTS or CTP program knowledge, familiarity with natural hazard spatial data, Certified Floodplain Manager
  • (CFM) certification, and/or experience with Hazus a plus.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (less than 10%) to Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington
