Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Austin, TX Geospatial Operations Group as a GIS Analyst.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE
Under supervision, performs standard geographic information system (GIS) work while developing professional proficiency. This position is on-site at client location.


JOB DUTIES
  • Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations which may include the following
  • Conducts data gathering, conversion and analysis of GIS data.
  • Prepares data documentation or metadata for GIS Projects.
  • Prepares maps and exhibits with GIS data sets.
  • Participates in client needs analyses.
  • Maintains continued knowledge of technology developments in the GIS field and use of GIS software.
  • Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

  • Fulfills all required corporate trainings.
  • Receives direct supervision on new aspects of assignments, exercising independent judgment on details of regular assignments, making preliminary selections, minor modifications, and adaptations of alternatives. 
  • May perform limited portions of a broader assignment of a more experienced GIS Specialist using prescribed methods and best practices.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or B.A. in Geography, Computer Science or related GIS Environmental Discipline, commensurate with hiring discipline. 
  • Minimal experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's Degree; no experience required with a Master's degree.
  • Transportation Asset Management experience preferred.
  • Linear Referencing System experience preferred.
  • ArcSDE/Enterprise Geodatabase experience preferred.
  • Data and geodatabase management preferred.
  • Collector for ArcGIS preferred.
  • ArcGIS Online publishing preferred.
  • ArcGIS ModelBuilder preferred.
  • Microstation CAD conversion to ArcGIS experience preferred.
  • ArcGIS Roads and Highways extension experience preferred.
  • VueWorks experience preferred.


SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Good interpersonal and computer skills and capable of developing technical writing and communication skills. Familiarity with GIS technology and software packages preferred. 


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • None.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro experience is required.
