GIS Consultant - London

The role of GIS Consultant is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right person to gain experience implementing GIS solutions across disciplines and through all parts of a projects life cycle. The successful candidate will work out of our London office. This position would suit someone who has experience of liaising with senior project staff, project managing a group of GIS staff and with the ability to see the full potential of GIS to a multi-disciplinary project environment.


Essential
• Either a degree qualification in GIS or a related field and more than five years work experience, or 10 years experience using GIS software
• Experience using ArcGIS 10x and its extensions
• Experience of providing GIS support to multi discipline, client focused, project environments
• Experience of creating work benches in FME
• Work directly with internal clients
• Sell the benefits of GIS internally
• Proven experience of delivering to deadlines within pressurised environments
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
• Able to work on your own and with the wider GIS team.
• Holds or is able to attain security clearance

Desirable
• Experience of working in a multi disciplinary consultancy
• Experience with working and controlling a large number of evolving datasets
• Using Python in ESRI environments to automate tasks
• Hands on experience of using CAD derived data within a GIS environments
• Experience of providing information management advice or solutions to multi-disciplinary projects
• Excellent presentation skills

Responsibilities
• Key contact for GIS data capture, cartography, analysis and modelling within Atkins
• Sell the benefits of GIS in a multi disciplinary environment
• Provide GIS support on projects (both internal to Atkins and externally direct with clients) to various disciplines from around Atkins
• Identify and develop business opportunities by providing client focused GIS solutions
• Project manage internal GIS projects
• Manage own productivity
