The role of GIS Developer is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right person to gain experience implementing GIS solutions across disciplines and through all parts of a projects life cycle. The successful candidate will work out of our London office. This position would suit someone who has experience of liaising with senior project staff, project managing a group of GIS staff and with the ability to see the full potential of GIS to a multi-disciplinary project environment.

Essential

Either a degree qualification in GIS, Computer Science or a related field with more than five years work experience, or 10 years development experience in a GIS environment.
Significant experience in C++/C#, .NET and Python.
Broad web development knowledge including ASP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Experience of Open Source GIS platforms and web-mapping libraries such as QGIS, MapGuide, OpenLayers, Cesium and Leaflet.
Work directly with internal clients.
Sell the benefits of GIS in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Proven experience of delivering to deadlines within pressurised environments.
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
Able to work on your own and with the wider GIS team.
Hold or able to attain security clearance.

Desirable

Experience developing in an Agile environment.
Experience of application testing (unit, integration, component, system, UAT) and test automation.
Experience of cloud computing environments, networking and administering Windows Server, IIS, Apache etc.
Experience of creating workspaces in FME Desktop and FME Server.
Experience using ArcGIS 10x/Pro and extensions.
Experience of providing GIS support in multi-discipline, client-focused, project environments.
Excellent presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Key contact for GIS development and solution architecture within Atkins.
Collaborate effectively with and support the Technical Leads.
Provide GIS support on projects (both internal to Atkins and externally direct with clients) to various disciplines from around Atkins.
Identify and develop business opportunities by providing client-focused GIS solutions.
Project manage internal GIS projects.
Manage own productivity.

You will be required to be flexible in terms of work location and travel. If deployed at client site you should be geographically mobile and be prepared to work on-site anywhere in the UK.

Please note that we will relocate from our current London office in Euston Tower to the Nova North building in Victoria in the first quarter of 2019.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
