Reporting To - Global Head of International Assignments Shared Services

The responsibilities of a Global Mobility Advisor include but not limited to the following:

Manage international assignments through the assignment lifecycle; for assignments, out of the UK & Europe / Middle East and Africa. Consultant will be key contact point for assignee and the business, through the full assignment lifecycle (assignment start, extension, repatriation).

Provides Global Mobility guidance to the HR and business community around policy, process, budgeting and timelines.

Liaises with internal and external stakeholders for a given population, monitoring service issue where necessary

Engage and liaise with external service providers such as relocation agents, removals companies, cultural and language trainers

Counsels employee at various stages of their relocation and acts as a point of contact for an assignee

Works closely with HR operations to ensure smooth updates of HR database and Payroll.

Advise on policy and best practice with regards to global mobility issues to business leaders, managers, regional / Country / Business HR, and employees, and ensure regular communication through presentations, guidance materials, intranet communications etc.

Manage social security implications of international assignments, ensuring certificates of coverage are obtained where necessary, and/or voluntary contributions are upheld

Ensure total compliance with immigration legislation, maintain policies on illegal working; apply for visas and work permits and track expiry dates; provide practical, commercial advice to the business

Working as part of broader HR team to deliver annual compensation processes such as salary review, bonus.

Has to work closely with global network of International Assignment Consultants

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of: international assignments, global mobility and expatriate management issues. Applicants will have comprehensive knowledge of Global Mobility policy and process understanding of tax and social security matters and the foresight to consider assignment cost saving initiatives.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Minimum 15 years of experience with not less than 8 years into Internal assignments.

  • Demonstrable  in-depth experience in International Assignment lifecycle and processes
  • Previous experience of UK immigration
  • Understanding of tax and social security associated with International Assignments
  • Educated to at least degree level, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and numerically competent.
  • Experience of using ECA or other similar tool for preparing mobility calculations;
  • Good experience of Microsoft Office.
  • Resilient and can maintain enthusiasm and commitment to deliver results in face of difficulties;
  • Ability to adapt style to different audiences and cultural differences, and influence where appropriate
  • Demonstrable strong consultancy and problem solving skills to deal with often multiple, and conflicting requirements;
  • Strong customer focus with drive to deliver an excellent employee experience at all times;
  • Commercially aware with an understanding of the cost impact of international assignments;
  • Experience of working successfully on simultaneous projects; 
  • Effective organisation, planning and coordination skills;
  • Effective skills in written communications, report writing;
  • The incumbent must be discrete, trustworthy and dependable.
