innovative digital solutions into asset rich customers that enable them to
achieve better outcomes. In addition, we are also on a journey to drive
improvements in productivity by accelerating automation and the adoption of
state-of-the-art digital engineering tools and techniques.
To support this strategy, Group IS has
defined an operating model for 2020 and beyond to revolutionise the way Atkins
partners with its clients to drive digital innovation to move us from a BAU
focus to a Business Value driven organisation.
The Global Tech Team is a virtual
organization bringing together capability in GroupIS and in the Global Design
Centre in Bangalore, to deliver the technical capabilities that will enable
Atkins to achieve its Atkins Digital objectives.
This role will head up the Global Tech Team
(GTT) in India; growing and building that team to enable it to deliver the
digital and technical capabilities that underpin the Atkins Digital objectives.
Initially, these capabilities will focus on digital Asset Management (dAM),
Digital Engineering (DE) systems and practice and Decision Analytics. Core capabilities will include System
Integration, Digital Development, Data Management, Analytics, BIM Design and
Development and related Client Services (Configuration, Monitoring, Custom
Reporting etc.) and Support (Incidents, Minor Changes). We expect that these
capabilities will be delivered by a combination of internal Atkins staff
(within GTT, other parts of Group IS or GDC or the wider Atkins organization); Digital
Alliance Partners (in India or elsewhere); and ODC in India. To this end, the role will be responsible for
working with HR and other senior leaders to attract, hire and retain world
class digital talent as well as establishing digital alliances with key third
parties and developing a relationship with local ODC capability. Most GTT India
team members will have dual reporting to a function outside of GTT India and an
ability to work within a global matrix based organization will be essential. To be successful in this role, it will also be
essential to build strong relationships with Group IS SLT and key Group IS
personnel (including Group Product Directors and Client Technology Directors),
GDC SLT and senior leaders in the business globally.
Key Deliverables/Responsibilities
This
role will be responsible for the following activities:

Delivering the technical capability required to support Atkins Digital initiatives
globally by building a world-class team in India and through partnerships and
alliances with local Digital Service companies and ODC.
·
Recruitment and retention of world class talent in Bangalore across the
different types of expertise required to deliver the capabilities needed by
Atkins Digital. Management of the Indian Graduate and Intern programs for
Developers.
·
Line Management and Pastoral Care of the Global Tech Team in India in
alignment with the Atkins Digital vision and IS2020. Supporting career and professional development
across including training, certification, and membership of Technical Practices
etc.
·
Working with GDC leadership to create an engaging, stimulating,
attractive environment for Digital Professionals in Bangalore.
·
Promoting best practice in development and digital delivery including Agile
and LEAN ways of working. Enabling a high performance team working within GTT
and with third parties and ensuring excellence in service delivery.
·
Management of the budget & developing financial forecasts for the
Global Tech Team in India.
·
Representing Atkins Digital on the India SLT and ensuring alignment
between Group IS, GDC and Atkins Digital
·
Engaging with India based Digital Alliance Partners and with local development
and digital service suppliers particularly flexible resourcing partners and
ODCs but also providers of other digital services (e.g Big Data platforms, iOT
services). Managing relationships and
ensuring good lines of communication with effective interworking that ensures a
win-win for all parties. Responsible for commercial Contracts, SOWs, NDA’s with
Digital Alliance partners and technical supply chain providers.

Working with the GroupIS Digital
Commercial Team and the Digital Asset Management Commercial Director to ensure
proper ordering and prioritisation of the pipeline of future work, ensuring
that it is both prioritised against business value and ordered according to
both an understood dependency mapping and an awareness of Atkins Digital strategic
vendor roadmaps.

Continually assess the effectiveness
and suitability of technology for the needs of the business, evaluating alternative
solutions to technology needs including partnerships, outsourcing and
in sourcing options, and presenting these without bias.
Experience Required
The Head of Global Tech Team in India will be an
experienced IT professional with a strong track record of working with
businesses to deliver digital products & services. A detailed familiarity
with the Indian IS market and the opportunities this presents is desirable. A
strong network with Indian based software companies and providers of digital
services (e.g. Big Data Analytics) is essential as are contacts with leading
Indian Technology Colleges. Experience of working outside India – particularly
UK, US or Singapore – would be useful.
Key experience should include:

Experience with a wide range of
software systems and technologies including web and mobile technologies,
databases and data management, cloud services and architectures. Experience
with at least one of: digital Asset Management Systems, Big Data Platforms or
Digital Engineering systems preferred.
·
Extensive knowledge of future state
technologies required to support the shift to a digital organisation. Strong
awareness of new technologies and trends.
·
Demonstrable understanding of key tools and
processes required to manage digital service delivery including current software
development tools & methods. Experience in deploying modern technology
development and delivery models, including agile (scrum and Kanban), LEAN,
continuous integration, continuous delivery and DevOps.
·
An ability to communicate technically with technical teams while at the
same time being able to translate key technical concepts for a non-technical
business audience.
·
Examples of working closely with business stakeholders to deliver
greater business value, including a strong commercial and financial awareness
of changes.
·
Experience of working collaboratively across
various organizational sectors and stakeholder groups to deliver new digital
products and services on a global scale. Ability to quickly gain confidence of the business and colleagues
through excellent communication and influencing skills.

Experience negotiating and managing Service Level Agreements and third
party supply chain contracts in response to business needs
·
Provide leadership through a proactive can-do attitude
·
Be comfortable with ambiguity and prepared to work in an agile, flexible

A minimum of 15 years’ experience in software product and service
development is expected
