Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.
We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes
Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah.
Atkins is looking to recruit a Health and Safety Engineer for an Infrastructure and Public Realm project, under our client Musanada. The project comprises of design, supervision of roads, infrastructure works & the irrigation line for the entire Bani Yas area on Abu Dhabi mainland.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Senior Atkins HSE Manager.  
  • Liaise with the site staff and ensure that high standards of safety and safety documentation are maintained across all works. 
  • Ensure that works are carried out in a safe manner and the site is maintained in a clean and tidy state and that the public is not jeopardized. 
  • Ensure that the safety of the office environment is catered for; plans developed, risk analyses conducted and documented.    
  • Assist in auditing all sites that relate to Atkins. 
  • Conduct safety inspections and assist in compiling monthly safety reports.  
  • Review and comment on the Contractor’s Project Specific Project Health, Safety and Environment Plan (HS&E Plan)
  • Preparing and updating Consultants HS&E Plan
  • Review Method Statements and associated Risk Assessments for its compliance with HSSE policies and regulations.
  • Review Contractors mobilisation HS&E documentation and activities, including installation and management site offices, OHS issues, Traffic Management Plans, Plant and Equipment Certification, PPE, pest control, welfare facilities, etc.
  • Daily supervision and inspection of site activities regarding HS&E issues in co-ordination with the consultant team and contractor’s staff to ensure the required HS&E policies and regulations.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly HS&E reports and regular day to day meeting in conjunction with the Engineers for the smooth functioning of the work.
  • Joint inspection of the site works with along with the Contractor’s staff
  • Issuance of HS&E Observations, Work Improvement Notices and Prohibition Notices for non-conformances. 
  • Updating the progress of the inspection for the preparation of the monthly HSSE reports/statistics.
  • Undertake regular HS&E audit inspections of the contractor’s site works to ensure works are carried out as per approved Shop drawings, specifications and material submittals, and review and maintain and monitor HS&E documentation, including documents logs, KPI’s, issuance of NCR’s, Close-out Action Plans, etc. and associated registers;
  • Participate in the joint Employer, Contractor and Consultant Directors Safety Tours (DST)
  • Provide HSSE training for the team
  • Attend Contractor’s HS&E Tool Box Talks, Daily Safety Briefings and Inductions  
  • Review and monitor Contractors internal HS&E Audits. 
  • Undertake HS&E Audits of the Contractors HS&E system
  • Participate in internal/external Consultant HSSE Audits 


Requirements :

  • Must have OSHAD (Occupational Safety and Health Abu Dhabi) certificate
  • A relevant technical qualification (degree) is essential.
  • An experienced Health and Safety Engineer, minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in major Sewerage/Storm water management and infrastructure projects. Familiarity with utilities, drainage and electro-mechanical works.
  • The individual must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications, and capable of enforcing such specifications.
  • Computer literacy and excellent communication skills is essential.
  • He must possess excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety/quality management systems. 
  • He is expected to monitor safety procedures, determine cause of unsafe condition through procedure review, equipment and facilities inspection, and worker observation with corrective action recommendations provided. 
  • He is also expected to review and oversee procedures for investigating construction accidents.
