Highway CAD Designer

• Responsible for applying engineering fundamentals to engineering design and producing drawings in support of conceptual improvement plan projects
• Develops, organizes and prepares a variety of complex layouts, drawings and designs from written or verbal specifications, or from rough or detailed sketches and/or drawings made by technical professionals, converting paper documents into computerized files
• Uses CAD to redesign, modify or otherwise edit existing designs
• May also prepare graphic presentations to support feasibility studies and Client initiatives

• Performs full time work in the client’s office, and must be able to communicate well with others
• Communicate and coordinate meetings as well as work well in a team environment with other consultants in the client’s office
• Have time management and organizational skills as the individual will be involved in multiples projects operating on multiple schedules
• Gathers and consolidates existing as-built, survey, aerial, alignment, topographic, and DGN information
• Maintains and develops file directories.
• Produces exhibits, KML files and helps finalize documentation of all drawings
• Stays up-to-date on FDOT CAD standards, software and processes
• Serves as a Client resource for implementing 3D design

• Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in the production of drawings in support of transportation design projects
•  Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plans production experience and familiarity with FDOT Policy and Procedures, including FDOT CADD Manual, FDOT Design Manual (FDM) and FDOT Standard Plans
• Must have a High school diploma (or equivalent), engineering study or course work a plus
