SNC-Lavalin Atkins business is currently seeking a Hot Cell Technician to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.

JOB DUTIES

  • Perform chemical and radiochemical operations such as material weighing and dissolution, filtering and transferring of solutions and pH measurement and adjustments.
  • Assemble, maintain, operate and repair process equipment remotely using master/slave or electro-mechanical manipulators.
  • Maintains compliance with requirements of safety documentation m accordance with Isotek Conduct of Operations guidelines and approved procedures.
  • Perform radiological work, waste handling and decontamination activities.
  • Load, unload and maneuver shielded transport containers using forklifts, overhead hoists and motorized dollies.
  • Issues stop or suspend work activity directions and/or Stop Work Order upon observing a condition perceived as imminent danger and reports the danger immediately to supervision. Facility Manager, or OSH Engineer.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate, complete and clear records of activities (check sheets, data sheets, logbooks and forms).
  • Qualify and maintain proficiency as hot cell technician, radiation worker and fissile material handler.
  • Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions.
  • Perform operations with strict adherence to the principles of lsotek Conduct of Operation guidelines and within (he limits of the Documented Safety Analysis.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping is observed, that combustible loading requirements are met, that hazardous materials are NOT introduced into unauthorized areas, and that ALARA principles arc maintained.
  • Oversee activities of support personnel to ensure compliance with ESH&Q and facility specific guidance.
  • Participate in procedure development and identify areas to improve operational performance.
  • Wear applicable protective equipment, including, but not limited to visual, auditory and respiratory protection.


REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience working remotely with radioactive and/or fissile material.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Have or be able to obtain and maintain DOE "L" clearance.
  • Forklift or man-lift operating experience.
  • Hoisting and rigging experience.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Minimum high school diploma. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
  • Experience working in radiological contamination areas including Hot Cells.
  • 2 years of Nuclear Operations experience or AS and 1 or more years of Nuclear Operations experience.
