It provides advanced engineering & technology, and transformation & delivery services to clients in aerospace, defence, national security and government, and also – increasingly – to Atkins’s wider client base. Focus areas for growth include large-scale partnerships for high-end engineering services, digital transformation advisory services, and cyber security..

We are looking for an HR Business Partner who will drive our people strategy as an enabler for growth.

The HR Business Partner will drive business performance through people. Working closely with the ADS&T Managing Director and as a key member of the senior leadership team he/she will take an active role in developing business strategy and plans. The primary purpose of the role is to be accountable for the people strategy working with the rest of the leadership team (OLT) to ensure that we have the skills and capabilities to deliver the ADS&T 5-year growth plan while creating a vibrant, diverse and inclusive workplace where individuals can thrive and fulfil their potential.  

 
The HR Business Partner will be a key member of the OLT and by demonstrating high level business acumen he/she will contribute fully to commercial and business decision making.



Requirements

Crucial to success as an HRBP is high level capabilities in the following key areas:

•Commercial and business acumen demonstrated in a Senior HR role or as a business leader.
•Strategic mindset and ability demonstrated by a breadth of strategic thinking and a depth of intellectual capability. He/she will need to be capable of gaining credibility with business colleagues, sound judgement and robust decision making.
•Influencing repertoire - The HRBP will build deep trusting relationships and maintain a high degree of integrity. Strong influencing and communications skills, political awareness and high levels of emotional intelligence are key requirements.

 

Responsibilities
•Take a leading role in shaping the business strategy, ensuring that the people agenda is embedded within it.
•Act as a change agent to support evolution of the business to be well positioned for growth
•Lead talent/succession management for the business, facilitating talent mobility to support career development and enhance capabilities
•Champion, challenge and support organisational development with a particular focus on skills and capabilities to drive growth.
•Lead internal cultural development for the business (engagement, empowerment, consistency, collaboration, diversity, accountability) in line with corporate goals.
•Champion employee engagement and recognition to create a vibrant workplace
•Actively support our Diversity and Inclusion agenda recognising the benefits that diversity brings
•Proactively participate as a member of the HR Leadership Team to drive UK&E HR strategy and plans
•Establish external networks so as to bring in fresh thinking and new ideas to support delivery of our strategy
•Coach senior colleagues
•Facilitate business performance by enabling business leaders and managers to get the best out of their people through effective performance management.
•Ensure that appropriate KPIs and management information are in place to drive continuous improvement and enable measurement of progress against targets.
•Assure compliance and governance.
•Manage business risk.

The HRBP will be a resilient, tenacious individual, open to others and to uncertainty, maintaining an engaging leadership style, asserting independent views and a willingness to challenge. Working for the overall good of the Company (rather than through silo thinking) he/she will encourage and influence the behaviours of others to adopt a collaborative style and drive collaboration in others.

 

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview
