We are currently seeking a HR Manager to join out HR department located at our Dubai office. Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, this position will be responsible for delivering the activities of the HR function which supports one or several of our business divisions.

 

The role will work closely with business line mangers to ensure HR programs and services are in place to support and drive business objectives. In this role the HR Manger leverages services from the centres of expertise in the areas of Talent Management, Global Mobility, Recruitment and Rewards. We are seeking an individual with a solid HR business partner background and demonstrated change management experience with a broad range of HR initiatives and programs.

 

The selected individual will be able to guide cultural change, build internal business partnerships and provide coaching to develop others, challenge the status quo and offer creative solutions to business issues. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal and project management skills, have strong business acumen and previous experience in a large organization, preferably within the professional services sector.

 

This position has minimal supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department and the business.

 

This is an exciting and challenging role, utilizing expert skills and knowledge to deliver a breadth of service that spans a diverse range of operational HR activities.

 

This is a full-time position. Occasional travel is expected for this position.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of business strategy and organization towards the development of HR requirements to support and drive its implementation; understanding what HR initiatives will impact and the successful implementation of business strategy is an important driver of success
  • Partnering with the centres of expertise to deliver HR solutions to overcome business challenges and enable strategy execution in the areas of Recruitment, Rewards, Talent Management, Learning and Development
  • Working with business leaders to ensure all HR practices and programs are in place and well understood
  • Diagnose and/or deliver change projects in line with the HR and business agenda
  • Successfully manage progress and track key HR Operations milestones, deliverables and projects
  • Develop and implement approaches and solutions which foster sound employee relations and engagement
  • Identify HR trends and issues including potential management options
  • Provides counselling and advice to employees and managers on employee relations including coaching and performance management, policy infractions, investigation, disciplinary actions, terminations, retention and complex personnel related matters
  • Provide guidance to management to ensure compliance with company practices, procedures and relevant employment law
  • Coach and develop line managers in the delivery of key HR activities, build their leadership and people management capability
  • Proactively promote pragmatic and best practice approaches and interventions that drive the HR and business agenda forward
  • Continuously look to increase the value HR adds to the business

 

Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.

 

We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes.

 

Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah.



Essential Criteria

 

HR Expertise

  • Proven working experience as a HR advisor with demonstrable, relevant experience in a senior human resources capacity, gained within a complex organization, preferably within the professional services sector.
  • Demonstrable experience and competence in generalist HR functional areas: compensation, employee relations, management coaching, organizational development, diversity, benefits, employee communications and talent attraction.
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamental HR regulations and applications.
  • Sound judgement, business acumen and the ability to contribute to the business as a whole.
  • Proactive in developing and effectively introducing alternatives to current HR practices as appropriate.
  • Program and project management skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

  • High regard for confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive situations.

 

Teamwork

  • Able to work collaboratively across a HR matrix organisation. Will work closely with HR peers, HR shared services, centres of expertise and business stakeholders to ensure joined-up delivery.

  • Experience partnering with business leaders in highly complex and dynamic business settings.
  • Must be effective at influencing management and conflict resolution.
  • Can build strong working relationships and networks at all levels of the organization, as well as ensuring a “presence” across several geographies and cultures while maintaining a high degree of integrity in a highly diversified environment.

  • Must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective communication and influencing stakeholder skills for impact and results.
  • Strong active listening, negotiation, facilitation skills with effective presentation skills, competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint

Data Analytical Acumen

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using and presenting data and HR metrics to make decisions.
  • Strong system thinking and the ability to identify solutions and associated impacts across the organization.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases, preferably with previous working experience with a known HR Information System, Oracle or similar.

 

Critical Thinking

  • Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Applies judgment on a case-by-case basis, confident to make decisions, able to identify and manage risk.
  • Ability to diagnose problems with strategic thinking skills, and drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and 4+ years of HR business partner experience, preferably in a large organization.
  • Or a master's degree in HR management or related field and two years of experience in the HR field.
  • Or seven years of experience in the HR field.
  • CIPD certification is an asset
