SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an HSE Manager to join the Oil & Gas team in Houston, TX.


JOB SUMMARY

For over 40 years the Atkins name has been synonymous with safety in the oil & gas sector. The Houston HSE Group provides process safety and risk consultancy services to a wide range of oil & gas facilities including offshore production and drilling assets, and onshore terminals, refineries, and petrochemical plants. The HSE Group Manager is accountable for the overall performance and well-being of the Houston HSE team, with 3 primary areas of responsibility: business development, technical assurance, and personnel management.


JOB DUTIES

• Maintain and develop client relationships with the major operators and EPC firms that are our core business.
• Secure work opportunities to deliver revenue and achieve team utilization levels in line with defined forecasts and budgets.
• Liaise with other teams in Houston and in the SNC-Lavalin global network to apply safety-in-design principles and provide integrated solutions to clients.
• Lead or oversee delivery of projects to client satisfaction (quality, schedule and budget).
• Review work product prior to client issue to ensure technical quality.
• Manage the team resources to maximize utilization while ensuring projects are allocated employees with the right skills to achieve quality results within schedule.
• Provide leadership, direction and support to the team to ensure the company’s reputation for technical excellence and service delivery is maintained and enhanced.
• Support the professional development and training of all members of the team.
• Maintain a level of personal productivity (hours billable to the client) to support meeting financial targets.
• Ensure the team follows all required company procedures and adheres to SNC-Lavalin’s high standards of integrity.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong technical safety background, with minimum 10 years’ experience in oil & gas.
• Proven business and technical skills to win work and deliver projects.
• Understanding of client needs in the current oil & gas market.
• Competence and experience in the successful bidding, execution and close out of projects.
• Experience managing a small team, with ability to supervise a team of 10+ engineers.
• A co-operative and helpful attitude to colleagues and clients.
• Self-motivating, with a reliable, consistent and mature approach to work.
• Flexibility in working hours when required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

• Strong persuasive ability, technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees.
• Strong management skills, managing a team of 5+ for 10 years.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
