Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking an Industrial Hygienist/Environmental Protection Program Coordinator to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.

Job Description

Serves as Industrial Hygiene (IH) Subject Matter Expert. Responsibilities include:

 

Development, implementation, and administration of IH Program, including development and maintenance of programs, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with 10 CFR 851 and OSHA

Conducts facility inspections, surveillances and assessments and supports ongoing project activities for IH requirements, compliance (including operations compliance), and implementation of IH Program requirements

Reviews work packages, procedures, and other documents to ensure compliance with applicable IH requirements, including adequacy of chemical safety requirements

Supports job walk downs, JHE development, suggests permitting strategies and IH sampling plans

Provides directly, or coordinates as necessary, support for industrial safety/hygiene specialist needs

Support overall implementation of 10 CFR 851, Worker Safety and Health Program, including development and/or review of hazard specific permits

Maintains and verifies calibration for industrial hygiene and safety instrumentation and equipment

 

Serves as Environmental Protection Program Coordinator. Responsibilities include:

Interpretative authority on matters related to the Environmental Management System (EMS)

Implementation of environmental compliance and permitting program to ensure compliance with 10 CFR 851; OSHA; Federal & State EPA, including preparation of reports, correspondence, and other required documentation

Performs EMS program assessments to confirm establishment and implementation of requirements.

Develops environmental performance indicators identify and implement pollution prevention opportunities within the Project’s respective organizations

Performs EMS Management Review, including performance reports and improvement recommendations

Maintains EMS Records Retention Matrix



Job Requirements

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Strong communication, verbal and written skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems by gathering information, pertinent facts and situational analysis to arrive at sound conclusions and take appropriate actions.


Education / Experience / Certifications

Baccalaureate in engineering, safety, or related science or equivalent work experience.

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required.

5 years’ job-related experience as a functional industrial hygienist.

Minimum 1 year nuclear experience.

Environmental management experience desired.

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified locations, information and matter.

US citizenship required for Atkins Global Isotek Systems project positions
