Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking an Information Security Specialist to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN

Job Description

Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.

Assists the Classification Officer in the management of a Department of Energy (DOE) Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC) program and the Unclassified Controlled Information (UCI) program.

Review documents and material to identify classified and UCI (including Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI)) per classification guidance.

Provide classification determinations in support of project activities in the areas of safeguards and security and nuclear material control and accountability.

Review and revise as needed the Derivative Classifier (DC) and UCNI Reviewing Official (RO) training material.

Manage the DC/RO training program. This includes providing initial classroom training to newly assigned DCs and ROs, providing refresher training to experienced DCs/ROs, drafting DC/RO appointment

letters, and coordinating with Training personnel to maintain a current list of qualified DCs/ROs.

Manage the collection and submittal of periodic information security data to DOE and other authorities.

Conduct periodic self-assessments of CMPC and UCI program activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements

Demonstrated skill/ability to effectively manage both a DOE CMPC program and a UCI program.

Demonstrated skill/ability as a classroom instructor.

Demonstrated skill/ability as an evaluator/assessor.

Possess proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.

Possess strong communication, verbal, and written skills.

Minimum Baccalaureate degree (security-related preferred) or have past DOE information security experience of 5 years or greater.

Detailed knowledge of DOE CMPC and UCI directives and associated programs.

Five years’ experience as a DOE Derivative Classifier (previous experience as a DOE Classification Analyst preferred).

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.


Due to current law, and in conjunction with the advertised position’s scope of work, candidates that are Non-US citizens are required to be submitted for further approval to the NNSA before being considered for hiring purposes. In addition, any candidates with dual citizenship in the US and another country must undergo further review for approval by the NNSA. Proof of citizenship will be requested upon receipt of application/resume.
