Due to recent growth, we are looking to recruit a proactive and inspirational Interaction and User Interface Designer to join our Birmingham studio.

You will be responsible for supporting the Senior Interaction and User Interface Designer and will need to be flexible in your design approach to work across a broad range of design applications, such as websites, digital efficiency tools, immersive exhibition displays, virtual reality apps and e-learning courses.

You will need to be a real team player who enjoys the buzz of a dynamic working environment. Being digitally focussed with a thorough grasp of web and mobile applications is essential. You will be a natural problem solver, with excellent attention to detail and experience of challenging content architecture. You should be the type of designer that possesses a stand out interaction and user interface portfolio and have a real passion for design.

About Creative Design
‘Creative Design’ is not your typical in-house team. We are a proactive and creative team of over 55 designers, developers, visualisers, filmmakers and immersive media specialists integrated into the heart of Atkins.

Our expertise spans a range of creative disciplines, from traditional identity design to virtual reality and interactive platforms. We work collaboratively with Atkins’ teams and external clients, to get to the heart of a problem, adding value and innovation to every project.

We currently work with clients such as High Speed Rail, Transport for London, East West Rail, Ministry of Defence, Highways England, EDF Energy, Faithful and Gould, the University of Edinburgh and internal communications.

Responsibilities
•  Responsible for designing, amending and implementing small and large scale digital initiatives driven by user needs.
•  Use a high degree of technical judgement to resolve design challenges.
•  Utilise your understanding of Information Architecture to apply designs to different development frameworks.
•  Collaborate with clients to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience.
•  Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
•  Create prototypes that can communicate to clients/customers for user testing.
•  Help facilitate client workshops in order to gather requirements and evolve your designs.
•  Closely work with project managers and developers through the project lifecycle to ensure high quality delivery.
•  Continuously enhance knowledge and keep up with emerging trends in design.

Required experience
•  Must have proven experience working as an interaction and user interface designer (or similar role).
•  Fluency in prototyping tools such as Sketch, Craft and InVision.
•  Strong Knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite.
•  Proven ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
•  Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.
•  Display confidence breaking down architecture for wireframing.
•  An understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). - You won't need to code in this role, but you will need a good understanding of how  

   development projects are built to allow you to communicate your thoughts effectively.
•  Understanding of interactivity and ability to apply this through all design stages from concepts to final sign off.
•  Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
•  Planning information architecture by studying the strategy, concept and target audience.
•  Ability to develop big ideas within a highly collaborative team.
•  Excellent understanding of user-centered design principles and practices, web standards and layouts, typography and colour, and web usability standards.

Desirable
•  Experience in games design and working with Unity.
•  Experience working with Lean UX/UI principles.
