We’re looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative and highly motivated person to join our internal communications team in London or Bristol. 

With nearly 10,000 people working across a variety of different roles and locations in our UK & Europe business, the internal communications function is instrumental in ensuring employees are informed, engaged and inspired to deliver the company’s strategic objectives. The team also plays an important role in supporting a positive culture through storytelling, events and other initiatives which make SNC-Lavalin a company that our people are proud to be part of. 

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a passion for communication and excellent writing skills. As a people person, you’ll thrive in this highly collaborative role which will enable you to work with many different teams and individuals across the company, as well as alongside other colleagues in internal, external and marketing communications. Reporting to one of the Internal Communications Managers in the team, you’ll support the delivery of the UK & Europe’s internal communications strategy and the effective management of key internal channels. This will involve generating ideas, creating content, contributing to plans and helping to continuously improve the way we do things, all while developing your skills as a professional communicator in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the internal communications team with the management of key internal channels including the intranet and targeted newsletters
  • Take a lead role in the planning and production of internal communications content for a variety of online and offline channels such as news articles, videos, webinars and Yammer posts
  • Work collaboratively with others to source and coordinate news and features
  • Contribute to the development, delivery and measurement of internal communications and engagement plans
  • Act as a single point of contact for different stakeholder groups in the business, building an understanding of their requirements and contributing to solutions that help them achieve their desired outcomes
  • Undertake research that contributes to our internal communications and engagement strategies
  • Contribute to the organisation and delivery of internal events
  • Create and implement processes or improvements which enable more efficient ways of working
  • Devise effective reporting mechanisms and contribute to regular reporting on the work delivered by the internal communications team
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the external communications and marketing communications teams on the delivery of integrated projects and campaigns
  • Develop strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders from across the business and at different levels of seniority.

Qualifications

  • Degree educated or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred

Essential Criteria

  • An understanding of internal communications and/or employee engagement, and the role this plays in a corporate or professional environment
  • Excellent writing skills, with proven experience creating content for different audiences and channels
  • Able to build effective working relationships
  • Confident to interact with new people; for example, when interviewing them for news stories
  • High energy, with the drive and enthusiasm to make things happen
  • Highly organised and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of tasks that are assigned to you
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Curious and not afraid to ask questions

Desirable criteria

  • Experience using SharePoint
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, creative, collaborative team player who is willing to try new approaches to achieve positive results. They must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, meticulous attention to detail and be comfortable dealing with a diverse range of people at all levels of seniority.

The role is well suited for someone who has high levels of initiative and the ability to quickly establish positive working relationships with others. We’re looking for a team player; someone who is willing to get stuck in, is comfortable with ambiguity and approaches their work with a positive and professional attitude.

Security Clearance: 
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
