Job Description

We’re looking for a creative, collaborative and motivated communications specialist to join our business in the UK & Europe. The successful candidate will be part of our Internal Communications Centre of Excellence, which is responsible for ensuring our employees are informed, connected and engaged with the strategic direction of the company and the work we deliver for our clients. The internal communications team also plays an important role in supporting a positive culture within our business through storytelling, events and other initiatives which make SNC-Lavalin a company that our people are proud to be part of.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a couple years of relevant communications experience on their CV and is ready to take on more responsibility and autonomy while continuing to benefit from the guidance and support of others.

The role is based in the UK; ideally in London, Epsom, Birmingham or Bristol

From time to time, travel within the UK may be required

In this role, it will be your job to deliver work which engages and involves employees so that they know what is expected of them and feel motivated to give their best. You will be responsible for generating ideas, developing plans and messaging, and executing tactical activity across a range of channels to achieve the measurable outcomes the business is looking for while continuing to develop your skills as professional communicator.

Degree educated or equivalent qualification in communications, marketing, public relations or related field.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience and understanding of internal communications and/or employee engagement, ideally gained in a corporate environment
  • Evidence of delivering internal communication plans and activities which achieve desired business outcomes
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to convey complex topics in simple language to a variety of audiences
  • Experience of sourcing and creating content for a range of online and offline channels
  • Confident to advise others on internal communications best practice
  • Able to build effective working relationships
  • High energy, with the drive and enthusiasm to make things happen
  • Highly organised and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of projects
  • Experience working on corporate events would be considered an asset

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge of the markets/industries that the organisation operates in


  • Collaborate with the wider UK & Europe internal communications team to support the delivery of the business’ internal communications and engagement objectives
  • Work with business stakeholders to develop, deliver and measure internal communications strategies and plans
  • Develop strong relationships that enable you to fully understand the objectives of the stakeholders you support in order to provide effective advice and deliver relevant and targeted messages
  • Source and create content for a variety of online and offline channels, including multi-media and social networking platforms such as Yammer
  • Write a variety of internal materials, from leadership communications and speaking notes to news items and campaign collateral
  • From time to time, organise and manage small internal events
  • Create and implement processes or improvements which enable more efficient ways of working
  • Devise effective reporting mechanisms and contribute to regular reporting on the work you deliver
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the external communications and marketing communications teams on the delivery of integrated projects and campaigns.

The Individual

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, creative, collaborative team player who is willing to try new approaches to achieve results. They must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong attention to detail and be comfortable dealing with a diverse range of people at all levels of seniority.

The role is well suited for someone who has high levels of initiative and the ability to quickly establish positive working relationships with others. We’re looking for a team player; someone who is willing to get stuck in, is comfortable with ambiguity and is able to find humour in the every day.

Security Clearance: 
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
