Junior 3D Ground Modeller

We have a great opportunity for an ambitious 3D Ground Modelling Specialist to join our Ground Engineering & Tunnelling Team.  We are seeking someone with modelling software and data management capabilities and a background in geography/geology/engineering/geotechnics to join our team. The individual will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including onshore infrastructure and offshore renewable projects. The individual would also receive training on the various modelling software packages and data management tools to help the business construct 3D ground models.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in the ground engineering input to some of our most challenging projects as well as receiving training in an array of emerging technologies that will assist in modelling. The successful candidate will have the flair and ability to help us develop and expand our geological ground modelling capability, by building on our existing and rapidly expanding portfolio and by developing strong technically-led relationships with our clients.

Location - National.

Candidates should have:

  • A strong academic background related to earth sciences.
  • Received geological or geomorphological training with an understanding of earth’s history.
  • Experience in the development of 3D ground model with the preferred associated software being Leapfrog Works , Civil3D, ArcGIS, Groundhog.
  • Data Management experience, preference being with large data sets associated with ground engineering.
  • A flair for innovation and good digital skills.
  • Working knowledge of BIM standards.
  • Sound problem solving and idea generation ability. Willingness to develop technically with a ‘growth mindset’.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence to attend meetings with and build strong relationships with clients.
  • A broad range of skills to allow the candidate to also work on other projects in an engineering geological role.
  • Working towards a professional qualification.

The following qualities are desirable:

  • Experience in the use of AGS data and an understanding of AGSi.
  • Working knowledge of engineering designs and ability to integrate into models.
  • Experience in the use of coding (e.g., python or similar).
  • Experience of project management and in negotiating and running successful jobs.
