Junior Cost Engineer

Our San Fransisco team is growing! If you want to be a part of a successful global organization and have at least 2 years of experience in the area of project controls, we would like to connect with you. We are looking for a junior cost engineer who has the responsibility for monitoring and appraising the performance of project costs and ensuring information and data is correct to enable corrective actions on project costs/performance on construction projects up to $20M.

Responsibilities

 

-Ensures that the Project Controls Process is carried out in accordance with the  Design & Construction Engineering Manual  and the Project Controls Procedures and related Project Controls Plans.

-Supports a Project Controls Engineer in the management of Project Controls activities of contractors and other service providers.

-Leads and is responsible for the management of data and information within a project management system.

-Responsible for project cost data and supporting documentation within the Project Controls System of record, Unifier

-Performs reconciliation of cost data from local accounting system (SAP) to Unifier

 

-Provides actual cost data from local accounting system

 

-Ensures actual data figures in local accounting system are project related and coded accurately

 

-Assists the Project Control Engineer on all levels of cost reporting and forecasting

 

-Assists the Project Control Engineer on all levels of negotiation and validation of Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contracts and change orders

 

-Performs contract administration duties in relation to the execution and retention of project change notices (PCN)

 

-Reviews and validates contractual compliance of project invoices

 

-Implements financial accounting training and workshops for the project management team and / or contractor

 

-Assists and supports Project Controls Engineer and Project Manager in financial project close-out

 

-Primary contact for credit application submissions in Touchpoint (Sharepoint)

 

-Tracks credit application submissions in gSheet

 

-Notifies Finance of credit applications

 

-Sends follow-up reminders

 

-Notifies project managers when credit applications are approved

 

-Maintains the master prioritization list of scored projects and gSheet of new requests and on-hold requests

 

-Customizies & publishes the monthly prioritization list in gDrive for the public

 

-Follows up with Group Leaders to verify estimated Conceptual Design start prior to review meetings

 

-Updates planned projects list (from the prioritization list or Group Leaders' portfolio updates) - monthly or bi-monthly

 

-Moves planned projects to Conceptual Design phase in Unifier

 

-Maintains Business Objects report distribution (add/remove recipients)

Requirements

-University degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent (e.g. cost engineer, quantity surveyor)

-2 to 5 years of experience in the area of project controls, financial control or quantity surveying

 

Knowledge of:

-Project Controls and Project Management

-Engineering and/or Business Administration

-Financial accounting principles, i.e. Work in Place and Accruals

-Proficient in using MS-Office applications, Sharepoint, Google Suite

-Very good analytical skill-Ability to troubleshoot and work independently as well as within a team

-Knowledge of SAP and Unifier is required

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills

-A team player with the ability to work collaboratively and interact with employees at all levels
