Linxon is a joint venture company set up by SNC-Lavalin and ABB to turnkey electrical AC substation projects. Linxon will undertake turnkey electrical alternating current substation projects related to renewable and conventional power generation, power transmission and transportation solutions. Turnkey solutions will include project design, engineering, procurement, construction, management, commissioning and after-sales support.
Mission Statement:
The Lead Engineer will be a member of Linxon - Engineering Team and will contribute towards the effective operation. The Senior Lead Engineer will lead and work in a skilled team on a wide range of international T&D substation projects. The position will focus on the Management of Engineering Interfaces and scope of work involved in HV - substation design and construction projects, within the Power Grids Division, Business Unit EPC and technical lead of the complete substation scope for WBS items 1 to 7 from the late tender phase throughout sales handover until FAC for turnkey projects or engineered packages according to the project related division of work.
Tasks:
• Technical Lead of Electrical Design & Engineering of large and complex EHV/HV Air & Gas Insulated Substation (AIS & GIS) projects
• Overall responsible for managing & leading all engineering activities from project start till the As-Built stage with strict adherence to Project Specifications & ABB standards including OHS
• Instruct, supervise & coordinate engineering teams within ABB (local & remote), internal & external partners, sub-suppliers, secondary engineers & civil engineers.
• Develop technical concept, Single Line Diagrams, Layouts, Primary Engineering
• Prepare subsystem Specifications, specify Ratings, check Supplier’s offers / designs and interfaces, auxiliary power system design
• Prepare bill of quantities & cost estimation, deviations & clarifications
• Review of Suppliers design, Factory acceptance test plans, attend factory & Site tests
• Lead & attend discussions with Customers, handle Site queries and take necessary actions
Requirements:
• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering discipline
• Fluency in English – both written and spoken, additional language like German, French is a plus
• Extensive substation engineering experience
• Proactive, result-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as reliability, and ability to work under pressure
• Skilled communicator who can interface with numerous external and internal parties at all levels in a multi-cultural environment
• Expert knowledge in Substation design and engineering, Single Line Diagrams, Layouts, Primary design & calculations, Grounding & Lightning design, Steel design inputs, transformers, HV & MV Switchgear systems, Auxiliary Power AC & DC Systems, power cables
• Knowledge of system studies like load flow, short circuit calculation, insulation coordination will be desirable.
• Knowledge of secondary engineering and experience in Installation & Commissioning is a plus.
• Strong in MS Office & in handling design calculation tools, knowledge in Microstation or AutoCAD is a plus.
Availability to travel 25 % of the time (domestic/international)
