About Atkins and ADS&T

Within ADS&T Atkins has built a team of consultants that deliver management consultancy and client-side consulting in the business and digital transformation space. Their focus is primarily digital programme and project delivery, technology enabled transformation, strategy, architecture development and business change integration.

About our Business & Digital Consulting Practice

This team is in great demand and consequently we are experiencing extremely rapid growth, with particularly strong demand in our defence, security and government markets. This success is built on a track record of excellence in consultancy and delivery to a wide range of clients, which includes some of the largest public and private sector clients in the UK. We have built a high quality consulting team, attracting top-tier consultants and delivering high quality work. We are now looking to rapidly expand the scope and scale of our market offering across all our capability areas, with a key priority being in Enterprise Architecture.

About Our Ambition

Many large organisations today have invested heavily in significantly large, monolithic, long-term ICT services contracts that have in many cases locked them into proprietary, inflexible delivery models and commercial arrangements. One consequence of this has been that over recent years these organisations have become less able to respond to the disruption of the digital era and the increasing pace, volatility, variety and scale of change that is now an everyday way of life in today's business environment.

In response, organisations are now turning away from these legacy ways of working and are bringing back in-house key functions like technology strategy, architecture and design allowing them to regain control of their technology roadmaps, increase agility and responsiveness, and deliver technology faster, better and cheaper.

As such, there is now a very high level of demand for architecture and design services, consultancy and support in our markets. Atkins are responding to this exciting opportunity, on the back of significant new business recently won in these areas, by substantially growing our enterprise architecture consulting capability and skills portfolio.

The Candidate

We are keen to attract enthusiastic and experienced Enterprise Architecture consultants with a strong track record in providing high quality advice and delivery to demanding clients in large, complex ICT programmes within complex stakeholder environments. We have a range of opportunities and openings on offer and are seeking talented candidates with varying levels of experience, from junior architect up to managing architect. You will be an exceptional individual who can demonstrate a depth of knowledge and high quality track record of consultancy and architecture design.
You can be a specialist in any one (or more) of the recognised EA domains (for example business, information, application, technology, integration, security or service management) or be a multi-disciplinary enterprise architect who can understand, deliver and manage architecture development and consultancy across multiple EA domains.
Depending on your level of experience, the role will involve a blend of client-facing delivery and consulting, business development, technical/design assurance and team management.
This is an exciting time for our Business and Digital Consulting team and this role provides the successful candidates with significant development opportunities that arise through working in a growth area in an expanding practice.
As well as consulting and delivery, individuals will be expected to support business development activities by contributing to client proposal development. You may also be involved in the development of new capability through, for example, development of propositions, thought leadership and potentially the development and delivery of training.

Core Requirements

Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent core competence and experience in Enterprise Architecture and complex solution design within the context of technology-enabled transformation and strategic change programmes.

We are looking to recruit a variety of Enterprise Architecture consultants - those who have skills and experience that span the full breadth of Enterprise Architecture consulting OR those who have a specialism or focus in a specific domain of EA.

• Translating business visions, goals, objectives and high-level requirements into Solution or Enterprise Architectures.
• Developing contextual, conceptual, logical and physical views of architectures, across key architecture domains (including Business, Applications, Information, Integration, Security and Infrastructure)
• Design, development and application of architecture deliverables, artefacts and building blocks using TOGAF 9.1 and its associated architecture content framework and architecture development method
• Development and maintenance of architecture deliverables using recognised modelling standards and notations (Archimate v3 would be desirable)
• Management and governance of reference architecture content and of developed architectures lodged within repositories
• Knowledge and practical experience of recognised EA modelling products (ARIS, BizzDesign would be desirable)
• Developing technical designs for large and complex programmes, including defining architecture and solution requirements and evaluating and selecting solutions (COTS and bespoke developments)
• Leading reviews of the technologies and architectures employed in existing systems or in-flight projects, and communicating the findings of the review back to senior stakeholders
• Implementing and running Architecture and Design Governance frameworks at both the Enterprise and Solution level, including the establishment and operation of Architecture Boards and Technical Design Authorities.
Plus:
• An ability to influence and communicate with all levels of stakeholder including senior executives, directors, managers and junior staff
• Good general consulting skills (soft skills, structured thinking, effective report writing and presentations, and stakeholder engagement)
• Comfort in operating in highly fluid and dynamic working environments
• An ability to work under broad direction, with a high level of self-initiation.
• Knowledge and experience of new technology trends and disruptive technologies, including cloud, government ICT strategy, social, big data and digital services
