We are hiring! The Lead Water Resources Engineer is an integral part of our Water Engineering Team. This position is based out of Tampa, FL (can also be based in Orlando, Sarasota, or Tallahassee). Position may be elevated to Project Manager Water Resources for a more qualified candidate.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • A strong candidate for this role will need to demonstrate full competency in conventional engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in water resources.
  • This individual must be competent in the project management of FDOT and municipal projects with a broad knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design methods.
  • The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects with multiple faceted designs which includes stormwater, roadway and utility design, complex hydrologic/hydraulic project designs and analyses, and give technical oversight to junior staff and work and work collaboratively with other departments to complete projects in a timely manner. The candidate will also assist in proposal preparation and in developing and performing client presentations.
  • A working knowledge of CADD software like Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Microstation and ORD in addition to, GIS experience associated with water resources, storm sewer analysis is also preferable.
  • A strong candidate will be able to independently make sound preliminary engineering decisions, develop design plans, write design specifications and prepare technical reports. They will also be able to use or have a working knowledge of ICPR v3.
  • Project manager for multiple projects. Conducts contract negotiations with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Plans, schedules, billings and reports, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Performs preliminary engineering design and/or reviews the design and drafting work of junior engineers, designers or drafters.
  • Works with external clients at progress meetings and throughout project to meet client needs, project schedules, goals and deadlines.
  • Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets and schedules.
  • Performs quality control and guidance of junior staff related to hydrologic/hydraulic designs or methods.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of final plans and design reports and submits them for approval.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of hydrologic/hydraulic models and modeling reports and submits them for approval.

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with fifteen years experience since Bachelor's or fourteen years since Master's. Typical incumbent has 20+ years of experience.
  • Good technical writing, computer and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including budget, schedule and deliverable performance.
  • Demonstrated experience working with FDOT, municipalities, water management districts, and other water agencies.
  • May be eligible for project management training.
  • P.E. license is required.
