Management Accountant

Atkins Infrastructure business have an opportunity to appoint a Management Accountant to support our Aviation market. The role will report to the Senior Financial Controller and the Market Director for Aviation. 

The role of Management Accountant involves providing financial support and guidance to the Aviation market team, working closely with the Operations Director and Client Directors. The Aviation market team is a growing business with annual turnover in excess of £45 million. In this role, the successful candidate will gain commercial and financial exposure across the entire Infrastructure business in both domestic and international markets.

This opportunity will be based from either our London or Epsom offices with occasional travel required to Client offices in the South East, especially around Heathrow Airport. Candidates that wish to be based from Epsom office should be aware that travel to London will be required usually on a weekly basis.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Providing daily management support and advice to Market Director and Operations Director.
• Attend regular projects Boards
• Monthly management accounts for the Aviation Market, with supporting schedules and balance sheet reconciliations
• Monthly finance commentary and performance graphs
• Managing and reporting on the lockup and provisions of the business, overseeing invoicing, and liaison with the Shared Service Facility to ensure the correct remedial action is taken against outstanding debts
• Project reviews - usually involving monthly visits to the client office at Heathrow
• Client Audits
• Provide data to agree on-going charge out rates to Clients
• Ad hoc business/project reviews to include the provision of supporting financial analyses
• Review and reporting on pipeline, work in hand and balance sheet strength
• Establishing a pro-active role within the business in support of the strategy, budget and forecasts and adapting to changing needs
• Support and active contribution to bids including those for major projects, international & frameworks
• Active review & development of systems to support the business and maintain tight financial controls.

 

Requirements

 

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
• Confident communicator and strong commercial awareness
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Team player, but able to work independently
• Good working knowledge of MS including Excel
• Experienced in using JD Edwards and Hyperion
• Part experience of working in an engineering, aviation or consultancy organisation would be advantageous 
  

Salary Banding: £40,000 to £48,000 per annum
