Atkins is currently seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join our Aiken Energy Team as Material Control Specialist.


Job Description:


Responsible for administration of subcontracts, development of work packages and ensuring materials a Administers subcontracts to ensure that subcontractors meet Company and Project requirements.

 
Identifies and selects vendors and subcontractor's to provide and supply materials and services.

 

Manages subcontracts and in this role will have the authority to make decisions regarding the management of the subcontracts.

 

Liaises with subcontractors to ensure subcontracted services are undertaken in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

 
Contacts vendors, contractors, and/or subcontractors to coordinate and expedite the timely receipt of equipment, materials, or related engineering data to meet schedule requirements.


Develops work packages to include scheduling, material staging/requisition and labor estimating.


Generates work orders and reports using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).


Coordinates and manages resources to complete work.


Advises appropriate project personnel regarding completion, transit, and delivery dates, or possible delays.


Responsible for monitoring and tracking supplier deliverables.


Ensures materials/parts are ordered to support assigned tasks. Selects appropriate goods or services for purchase in response to an applicable purchase requisition, and negotiates the purchase and delivery of such goods or services.


Responsible for maintaining subcontract files.


Reviews and processes purchase requisitions.

 

Provides project controls support related to the integration, control and management of projects; specifically project planning and scheduling, progress management and risk management.


Make decisions without direct supervision, and has the authority to make an independent choice, without direct supervision.


Performs other duties as assigned.re available for completion of work activities.



Job Requirements:


Proficient in utilizing PC and various applications related to work control and work planning activities.

 
Detailed knowledge of CMMS WO generation and spare part acquisition, maximum and minimum stock holdings.


Advanced computer skills.


General knowledge of plant process equipment including utilities, hand and power tools, and test equipment.


Detailed knowledge of procurement practices, including expediting initiatives.


 

Detailed knowledge of construction standard practices, including working knowledge of codes and regulations.


Detailed knowledge of standard work planning practices and associated control systems, including working knowledge of best practices of work management.


Ability to coordinate and work well with multiple groups for planning high hazard, complex work initiatives.


Ability to prepare work control documents for scope tasks.


Effective oral and written communication skills on technical and non-technical subjects.


Working knowledge of craft tools and calibration equipment, including hand and power tools, test equipment, mobile and fixed cranes.


Working knowledge of MA-01, MIL-SPEC, OSHA, EPA, vendor manuals and P&IDs.


Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


Ability to climb stairs.


A minimum of 10 years of combined work control and field (construction, maintenance, and/or operations) experience.


5 years construction project experience.


3 years commercial or DOE Complex experience or equivalent high/hazard/complex work environment.


Experience with CMMS programs (e.g. Assets Suite, CHAMPS, Maximo, etc).



Education/Experience:



Associate's degree required or journeyman license required in related technical field.
