The Building Services division of Atkins is an exciting place to be. Right now we have an opportunity to recruit a Mechanical Engineer into our Epsom office. Join our team and you’ll get to work on outstanding projects - for clients such as the Met Police, NHBC, IBM, the National Trust and Royal Mail to name a few – that are transforming the world we live in.

You’ll be based in Epsom within our Building Services team, covering a full spectrum of environmental, mechanical and electrical engineering design and consultancy services both locally and nationally. The team you will be joining primarily work within London and the South East.

When you join our Infrastructure division, you’ll get to see your ideas put into place on the design and engineering projects that keep the world turning. You’ll work with a collaborative team who are all about making spaces and places work perfectly for people.



Responsibilities

 

  • Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems - heating, cooling, ventilation, controls, etc.
  • Production of detailed calculations using IES, Hevacomp and NES
  • Preparing technical specifications
  • Work in partnership with Atkins global design centre (GDC) to add value to building services projects where appropriate.
  • Preparing drawings for drafting by the CAD team
  • Representing Atkins at meetings with clients and contractors
  • Site surveys, inspections and monitor site works
  • Report writing
  • Maintaining records and archives to company standards
  • Manage own workload

 

Requirements

  • Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering or related subjects
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Charteredship with CIBSE/IMechE
  • Good level of computer literacy in IES thermal modelling package, Hevacomp, NES and Microsoft packages
  • Experience working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor environment is desirable
  • Able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with client is essential
