The Role and Responsibilities
As part of our Energy Business in West Cumbria, you would work with a team of engineers to provide design and engineering support for a variety of projects and for a variety of clients within our Mechanical Engineering department.
Within the department we offer full concept to detail design capability across some challenging projects not only in the nuclear industry but also the wider energy sectors such as in renewables, oil and gas and conventional power. From our office which includes most major disciplines you will be involved in developing innovative, practical solutions for our clients across the UK and further afield. You’ll work with our clients to capture their requirements and liaise on technical on general project aspects. You will also work with colleagues across the Atkins group to develop proposals for new work.
You will deliver engineering design solutions throughout the full design lifecycle from concept through to detail design, including; preparation of 2D drawings, 3D models, hand calculations and finite element analysis.
You will lead teams of engineers on project tasks as required, detail checking the work of others and ensure that projects are delivered to time and quality.
The Person
You will be motivated and proactive with a willingness to learn and adapt. You’ll be able to work both independently and as part of a team and possess good interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
You will possess a good understanding of engineering principles, with experience in; delivering solutions to technical problems, engineering design/design analysis, undertaking technical calculations and 2D drawing production for manufacture.
You will also possess the following;
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• The following would be highly advantageous;
• Chartership with the relevant institution or working towards Chartership.
• Experience in 3D Computer Aided Design
