Responsibilities

 

To help develop a Centre of Technical Excellence in Property Team in Oman and focussed on delivering technical quality.

 

Including:

  • Liaising with the Oman project delivery managers to understand the project requirements and develop a delivery plan to meet the project requirements.
  • Providing support to the Oman Project delivery teams to help ensure they understand the technical requirements and enabling them to deliver to these requirements
  • Ensuring that technical review and approval is applied for every deliverable
  • Providing feedback to the Oman technical teams on areas for improvement and developing appropriate training plans to continually improve technical competence
  • Helping Oman become a centre of excellence in detailed design by:
    • Identifying and sharing ideas for improving the way in which technical work is delivered in Oman
  • Implementing the Learning & Development Plan by:
    • Establishing quarterly technical Learning and Development (L&D) plans commensurate with the overall development plan
    • Preparing and developing technical training materials in support of the L&D plan
    • Providing technical training in the form of training programmes, lunchtime seminars, induction programmes
    • Proactively coaching and mentoring staff to enable them to fulfil their technical potential
    • Remaining up to date with best practices and current legislation in technical field
    • Supporting and providing technical input to the PDR process and provide ongoing assessment of individual technical competency in conjunction with the Oman MD and other property heads
    • Providing individual and collective feedback to technical staff on all projects

We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes.

 

Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah.



Requirements

  • Deep technical knowledge in the MEP areas of expertise
  • Chartered Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
  • Highly experienced and widely credible for technical knowledge, expertise and guidance
  • Expertise in delivery of all aspects of MEP design, specifically the deliverable requirements at preliminary and detailed design
  • Understanding the different technical processes in use around the world
  • Ability to engage with a diverse group and impart knowledge and learning around your area of expertise that develops the competence, capability and confidence of the staff in Oman
  • Appreciation of the business factors that influence the Oman team and an understanding of the ways to manage them
  • Ability to change your influencing style and communication approach depending on the audience to deliver the best learning environment for all staff
  • Ability to set the required competence level and then assess staff against this benchmark to effectively measure competence and define robust development plans for all technical staff
  • Excellent communication skills
