MEP Team Leader

Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Miami, FL office as a MEP Team Leader.   Major Function/Role:

• In this MEP Team Leader / Lead Mechanical Engineering position, you will provide the necessary technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the MEP staff on your team to assure total quality of all engineering efforts, appropriate fee development and timely revenue recognition of project fees.

Job Duties:

• The successful candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer; possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Mechanical Engineering program; have 12 or more years experience with a consulting engineering firm designing building HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems, have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the architectural and engineering industry; possess strong oral and written communication skills and can work with Revit.
• Position requires good leadership and motivational skills, solid technical background, good organizational skills, attention to detail, quality control, client interaction and representation.
• Ability to act independently with minimal direct oversight while managing MEP engineering staff.
• Provide planning, staffing, scheduling, and budget management on projects.
• In depth knowledge of general building construction specific to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) systems is essential.
• Requires thorough knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
• Ability to solve problems with new and innovative solutions Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of project
• Ability to handle multiple complex assignments simultaneously.
• Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers to discuss future and or current projects.
• Assist in Business Development in pursuing new work including participation in client presentations.

Education and Experience:

• B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. 
• This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S. 
• Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.

Special Skills:

• Proven technical writing and excellent communication skills are required. Incumbent may be eligible for project management training.

Professional Registrations:

• P.E. license is required. LEED Accredited preferred.

Additional Requirements:

• Proficient in Revit, AutoCad and load simulation software (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills required.
