Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Mergers & Acquisition Program in Tampa, FL as a Director. 


 

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE:

Under the general direction of the CFO, supports the Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) Program for Atkins North America, Inc. Assists and advises the CFO, the COO, the SVP - Business Development & Strategy (BD&S), respective BU Directors, and the senior leadership team on matters relating to corporate development, M&A, and strategy.


 

JOB DUTIES:

Working with the CFO, SVP of BD&S, and the senior leadership team, supports the merger and acquisition strategy consistent with the Company's overall business strategy and growth objectives.

Working closely with the CFO and the senior leadership team, supports and maintains the Company's M&A priorities.

Devises pursuit strategies including category-specific searches, utilizing in house managers and/or external consultants to support these activities in the most effective manner.

Maintains awareness of relevant industry trends.

Initiates and conducts M&A discussions, involving the senior leadership team and other managers as necessary and appropriate.

Recommends Corporate M&A policies and procedures.

Working with responsible operating managers, makes or leads presentations on proposed acquisitions.

Working with the CFO, develops and maintains long term financial plans and projections for the Firm

Analyzes alternative capitalization strategies, corporate strategies and new ventures. Makes recommendations to the CFO and senior leadership team.

Provides analyses and special studies as directed by the CFO.

Provides advisory and analytical support to the senior executives.

May perform such other duties as the CFO may from time to time deem necessary.


 

COMPLEXITY:

Performs analyses and deals with issues ranging from moderately complex to extremely complex, including in-depth financial modeling, incremental P&L, balance sheet and cash flow analysis, accretion/dilution analysis, etc.


 

DECISION-MAKING:

The M&A Director works under the direction of the CFO in close cooperation with the other senior leaders of the Company. The M&A Director does not make independent go/no go decisions on acquisitions, corporate development and strategy, because such decisions are reserved for the corporate CFO. However, the M&A Director must make independent tactical decisions in the course of M&A and strategic discussions, and must also make recommendations on decisions and issues of critical importance to the future of the firm.


 

WORK DIRECTION GIVEN TO OTHERS:

Provides direction and coordination to many staff members in the capacity of team leader on M&A and other projects.


 

INTERNAL CONTACTS:

Frequent contact with corporate executives and other managers throughout the organization.


 

EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Occasional contact with prospective business sellers, investment bankers and other representatives of business owners, consultants and accountants including the Company's auditors.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


MBA and/or JD preferred; business, legal, finance or engineering undergraduate degree preferred.

10+ years of management experience with significant direct participation in merger and acquisition work and corporate strategic planning.

In depth knowledge of the engineering/architecture/science consulting business. Experience in presenting acquisitions, business proposals, etc. to the Board and senior management of private corporations.




SPECIAL SKILLS:


Strong written and verbal communications, presentation skills, negotiation skills, proven analytical skills required. Ability to communicate in a structured manner, influence stakeholders, and address appropriate aspects of challenges or opportunities. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to function in a team environment needed.

Familiarity with relevant software including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.




OTHER:


Ability to work under the pressure of multiple projects. Frequent travel is required.
