We are hiring! The Infrastructure Solutions (IS) West Sector, Mountain Region Division Manager is an integral part of our Business Unit Team. This position is based out of Denver, CO.

How will you contribute to the team?

Strategy and Growth

With support of the Sector Manager and the Market Sector leaders and staff including Rail & Transit, Aviation, Water, Surface Transportation, Ports, Resilience, Emergency Management and Cities, define and develop the overall strategy of the division.  This will include the following:

  • Participates in the development of the annual and strategic plans for the area of responsibility, and implements accordingly for all IS business practices.
  • Determination of target services, clients and geographic areas of emphasis.
  • Lead the go/no-go process and determine the viability of opportunities.  If consensus to move forward or not on opportunities cannot be achieved, the Division Manager will make the final decision in consultation with the Sector Manager.
  • Develop and manage the pipeline of opportunities and manage the prepositioning of those opportunities.  The Division Manager is not expected to perform all of the prepositioning, that individual should assist with ensuring market sector leaders and staff and other technical staff are performing those functions.
  • Define future growth expectations and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Marketing and Client Maintenance

With support of the Sector Manager and the Market Sector leaders and staff including, Rail & Transit, Aviation, Water, Surface Transportation, Ports, Resilience, Emergency Management and Cities, manage the marketing and client maintenance of the division.  This will include the following:

  • Lead the go/no-go process and determine the viability of opportunities.  If consensus to move forward or not on opportunities cannot be achieved, the Division Manager will make the final decision in consultation with the Sector Manager.
  • Actively pursues new project opportunities by maintaining contacts with current and prospective clients.
  • Work with marketing and pursuit team to identify project proposal preparation and interview teams, and develops project marketing budgets.
  • Identify and work toward the resolution of any client relations problems.
  • Maintains visibility and professional currency by participating in civic and professional organizations, events and conferences and encourages staff to do the same.

Leadership and Staff Management

With support of the Sector Manager, provide leadership and management of division staff.  This will include the following:

  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to managers and staff.
  • Assists sector, and business unit management in identifying staffing needs based on future workload and manpower projections.
  • Coordinate as needed with the internal Technical Professional Organization (TPO) for all technical staffing needs.
  • Assist with recruiting activities and determine staff needs within the division.  Division Manager will have the final decision on hiring staff on their team.
  • Manage direct reports which will include conducting semi-annual performance reviews, annual career planning sessions, ongoing performance feedback and counsel to promote improved performance and career development. Also, help staff identify and pursue technical and professional development activities consistent with their career development goals and business objectives/needs.

Project Production and Operations

With support of the Sector Manager and division staff, manage the project production and operations of the division.  While the Division Manager will have the overall responsibility for the performance of the division, roles and responsibilities for specific project production and operations activities may be delegated to staff under the Division Manager to perform these functions.  This will include the following:

  • Assists project managers in developing project work plans.
  • Participates in reviews of schedules, budgets, project milestone dates and work products.
  • Works closely with TPO leadership to ensure project staffing needs are met.
  • Review financial performance of projects being produced and/or managed.
  • Assist managers in proactively identifying potential problem projects to ensure remedial actions are promptly taken to avoid financial losses and client dissatisfaction.
  • Monitors and enforces compliance with established quality control standards, ensuring that appropriate quality assurance activities are being performed throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Review project Quality Control (QC) plans and periodic Quality Assurance (QA) compliance audits on current or recently completed projects.
  • Conduct contract negotiations with clients and subconsultants.
  • Participate in reviews of project budgets.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure project profitability.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and client billings.
  • Provide input and recommendations concerning final write-offs and past-due accounts receivable.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor's degree in field of practice. Post-graduate degree preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.
  • This level may be achieved by technical professionals or managers with fifteen years of experience since bachelor’s degree with at least three of these years in positions with project management or operational responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to manage large scope operations and provide leadership to multiple levels of management

Expected compensation range is between $200,000 - $250,000 USD Annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
