The ideal candidate will be well experienced across multi-vendor technologies and environments, including routing and switching, firewalls, proxies, remote access and intrusion prevention. The dynamic nature of this role means you will be involved in a large number of new project opportunities and associated technologies. As a integral member of a small team of highly skilled security engineers the successful candidate will be working alongside technology architects and key technology staff to assist in the life-cycle of new services, from design and development, through to implementation and on-going support .
•Roughly a workload split of 75% Project / 25 % BAU whilst working to design, implement and support innovative security solutions.
•Prepare high quality accurate technical solutions, designs, and documentation for internal consumption by 2nd/3rd line support
•Contribute to strategy discussion within the team
•Identify and make recommendations on improvements to Network & Security services
•Assist 3rd line teams when required.
Strong communication skills
Highly competent at configuration and troubleshooting of networking products - firewalls, routers and switches.
Excellent Checkpoint skills inc VSX and Multi Domain
F5 LTM, APM any additional modules will be a benefit
LAN experience including NAC
Familiar with Cloud platforms
Multiple firewall vendor experience
CCNA, CCNP, CCSE or any relevant qualifications
Ability to methodically troubleshoot a complex technical issue using tools such as WireShark and TCPDump on network devices and/or various servers.
Adhere to ITIL best practice procedure in relation to all aspects of change and configuration management
Own problems and escalate to external vendors as required
Experience of network management tools.
