Operations Director for the Water Market

Atkins Infrastructure business have an opportunity for an Operations Director to join our Water market team.

As Operations Director you will have responsibility for the projects within the Water market, ensuring that revenue and margin performance meet or exceed targets whilst enhancing our reputation with clients, ensuring both project quality and effective communication at project level.

The individual will need to effectively balance the demands of the short and long term performance of the business and successfully communicate these issues to the project leadership teams delivering within the market(s) and the Practice Directors providing resource to the projects.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Market Director you will:

 

• Drive best practice and a professional leading-edge approach to the application of Health and Safety and CDM in the water market
• Work with Project Directors and Project Managers to coordinate and take responsibility for all projects related to the Water market with an objective to deliver all projects on time and within budget while exceeding client quality expectations
• Lead on overseeing the market budget and regular performance reviews within market
• Identify and manage portfolio risks, and properly escalate and report to Market Director key decisions
• Assure full compliance with policies and procedures.
• Oversee the performance of Project Managers and Project Directors where applicable. Working within the market, while connecting with the practices and other functions to ensure project performance.
• Drive best practice in Infrastructure by working alongside the other Infrastructure Operations Directors.
• Define resource requirements for market sector.
• Work with other stakeholders on the implementation of strategic initiatives that develop our people.
• Ensure an appropriate regime of project reviews within the market based on risk.
• Prepare and deliver the GDC plan for the market.

 

Requirements

 

• Experience of leading high performing teams and ability to influence and motivate others
• Demonstrable experience of financial and commercial management including negotiating
• Able to collaborate with key stakeholders
• Contractual and commercial knowledge
• Whilst experience and knowledge of the UK water market would be an advantage, it is not an absolute requirement for the role 
• A well-rounded leadership and management background with demonstrable management of project portfolio experience- Degree level or equivalent professional qualification
• Strong client skills
