Technical:

• Technical competence in detailed Railway geometry design using Bentley Rail Track,  Civil 3D,
• Proficient in Software tools, AutoCAD, Microstation, ClearRoute, Trimble Business centre 
• Competent to check the work of more junior team members. 
• Good knowledge of the requirements for Railway geometry design and an understanding of how these influence the BRT
• Draft technical Reports and Contractual documents, of acceptable technical and presentational quality with some guidance.
• Evaluate tender documents with some guidance.
• Experience in preparing project cost estimates.
• Offer new ideas to improve solutions and processes.
• Receive on the job technical training through performing tasks with some supervision. 
• Able to independently deliver work and integrate with larger project team. 
• Analyses problems assigned under guidance

Project Management:

• Good knowledge of work procedures and ensure work adheres to procedures. 
• Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost. 
• Developing knowledge of the commercial aspects of project management. 
• Able to work as reliable and pro-active member of the team, able to apply knowledge gained. 
• Able to assign work to Graduates, Technicians and Administrative staff 
• Refer to Senior Consultant on matters of major development importance and on matters relating to resourcing, departmental costs and expenses. 
• Report on own performance on a regular basis (this includes eg timesheets)

Commercial:

• Regular client contact under direction of more senior manager. 
• Develop an understanding of Operating Unit technologies and markets. 
• Clear understanding of local business (Divisional) technologies and markets. 
• Able to discuss in general with clients the local business (Divisional) technologies and markets. 
• Successful in identifying and following through on leads/suggestions associated with additional work prospects on the projects they are involved with. 
• Able to draft responses to straightforward bids - assistance sought with commercial aspects.
• Degree in Engineering related discipline plus typically up to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Developing technical competencies beyond those of a fresh graduate. Taking responsibilities for their own work and producing higher quality technical output. Role is still focused on the training
